The Irish Funds Industry Association has welcomed the announcement by the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) on the finalisation of the framework for Ireland’s loan origination fund structure. This will be the first dedicated regulatory regime in the EU for loan funds and will operate under the EU’s Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD).   Managers who are authorised AIFMs and that meet the additional conditions under the Central Bank’s AIF Rulebook will be able to avail of the new structure in order to market loan origination funds within the EU under the AIFMD passport.   The funds will be
Private equity real estate fund Rockpoint Group has closed on USD950 million of equity commitments for Core Plus Fund I, its first lower-risk, lower-return core plus investment vehicle. Rockpoint has historically sponsored opportunistic funds, having raised over USD8 billion of equity capital for these funds since 2003, including its most recent opportunistic fund, Rockpoint Real Estate Fund IV, which closed in March 2013 and aggregated USD2.33 billion in investor commitments.   Core Plus Fund I was not formally marketed and was raised from a small group of primarily existing investors. Humphrey Baker has joined as an investment director from Lyceum Capital Partners, where he was involved in deal origination, appraisal and execution, as well as portfolio company management. Carey Olsen has advised private equity firm Blue Water Energy on its joint venture with Blackstone to invest USD500 million in Siccar Point Energy, a new North Sea focused oil company. Dutch venture capitalist Aglaia has launched the Aglaia Oncology Fund II, backed by high-net-worth families. Investors will contribute a total of USD65 million to the fund, which has a final target of USD80 to USD100 million.   The group of investors has been expanded to include several institutional investors, including the European Investment Fund (EIF), which has made a substantial commitment. Aglaia is also one of the funds selected under the Dutch Venture Initiative, an investment fund recently launched by the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs.   Through the new fund, Aglaia will be investing in an estimated 10 to
RCS Capital Corporation has made a significant investment in Docupace Technologies, a provider of electronic processing technology for financial institutions and the wealth management industry. Following the transaction, RCAP will be a majority shareholder in Docupace.   Michael Pinsker will remain president and chief executive of Docupace and he and the Docupace management team will continue to lead the day-to-day operations of the business.   RCAP’s investment comes on the heels of Docupace’s recent executive management team expansion, reaching an industry milestone of servicing more than 500 financial industry clients and successfully implementing Straight-Through-Processing (STP) with several leading financial institutions.

Praesidian Capital Europe and Connection Capital have invested GBP15 million in debt and equity in Redeem Holdings, a UK-based mobile and electronics recommerce specialist. Praesidian Capital Europe, which provides senior and subordinated debt and growth capital predominantly to UK companies, has invested GBP7 million in debt capital and GBP1 million in equity.
