Private equity firm GTCR has completed the acquisition of Cole-Parmer Instrument Company from Thermo Fisher Scientific. Cole-Parmer, headquartered in Vernon Hills, Illinois, is a manufacturer and distributor of specialty laboratory equipment, instruments and supplies to a diverse range of customers in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, chemicals, food and other research-based or regulated markets.   GTCR is partnering with life science industry veteran Bernd Brust to carve-out the business from Thermo Fisher and position the business for future growth.   Brust, former CEO of Qualicaps and, previously, chief commercial operations officer of Life Technologies Corporation (acquired by Thermo Fisher in 2014), will
Sensata Technologies is to acquire the Schrader group of companies from private equity firm Madison Dearborn Partners for a total enterprise value of USD1.0 billion.  Schrader specialises in tyre pressure monitoring sensors (TPMS).    The transaction provides TPMS and additional low pressure sensing capabilities that address large and fast growing sensing markets and adds to Sensata's industry-leading sensing position.    The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close during the fourth quarter of 2014.   Schrader is headquartered in Denver, Colorado and has sales and engineering offices in the US, the UK, Germany, China, Japan and

Accountancy firm Monahans has appointed Stephanie Hurst to the position of corporate tax manager. Based at the firm’s Bath office, Hurst specialises in business and corporate tax, research and development relief, mergers, acquisitions and business restructuring.   Hirst qualified as Chartered Tax Advisor in 2013. Private equity firm Bregal Partners is teaming up with Dental Partners to acquire general dentistry-focused practices that have USD5 million to USD25 million in revenue in the Southeast, Texas and Midwestern geographies. Post-acquisition, Dental Partners intends to support the growth of these practices through further in-market, small acquisitions.   Founded by Todd Christie, Dental Partners is a general dentistry-focused dental practice management platform operating in Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, and Georgia. CITIC Capital Partners has acquired a controlling stake in King Koil Shanghai Sleep System Co. Private equity firm Intervale Capital has acquired Recapture Solutions from Triten Corporation. Recapture provides flare reduction and natural gas power solutions to oil and gas production companies in the Permian, Williston (Bakken) and DJ (Niobrara) basins.   Intervale is a private equity firm which invests exclusively in oilfield manufacturing and service companies.   In association with the transaction, Jason Arnoldy has been named chief executive officer of Recapture and Cary Ratterree has been named president. They co-founded Recapture in 2012.   Arnoldy says: "Since inception, Recapture's goal has been to provide a gas capture solution that offers a clear economic benefit

HIG Europe has acquired the majority of the assets of Estro Group, a provider of childcare services in the Netherlands. The group has been re-launched under the name Smallsteps, operating 251 former Estro locations and employing 2,750 former Estro staff.   The deal was completed shortly after Estro was temporarily placed into administration. All continuing locations are operating under “business as usual” conditions.   The Smallsteps management team includes former senior members of the Estro management team. Atlas Copc is to acquire Henrob, a manufacturer of self-pierce riveting systems and rivets especially for the automotive industry. As part of the transaction Atlas Copco intends to acquire all entities of Henrob with main facilities in the US and the UK.   The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions including merger control clearances from the competent competition authorities.   Partner Dr Christian Haellmigk at CMS Hasche Sigle in Stuttgart is leading the competition team which advises Atlas Copco in Germany.
