The Riverside Company has completed fundraising for its latest buyout fund, Riverside Asia-Pacific Fund II (RAF II) at USD235 million, a 57 per cent increase over its USD150 million PPM target. Mark Muth has joined PwC as a director in its London-based corporate finance team. He was formerly director of Unilever Ventures, the venture capital arm of Unilever plc, from its creation in 2002 until 2013.     Prior to that, Muth was a managing director of GE Equity, the private equity business of GE Corporation.     Muth began his corporate finance career with Bank of America.

Rothschild Merchant Banking, the investment arm of Paris Orléans, has completed the final closing of Five Arrows Credit Solutions (FACS), its junior debt fund focused on the Western European middle-market.  The fund has secured total commitments of EUR415 million, in excess of its target, from a global investor base comprising large institutions, family offices and high net worth individuals.   FACS provides unitranche, mezzanine and other junior debt instruments to mid-market European companies.  The fund is seeking to fill the financing gap currently faced by small and medium-sized corporates as banks and other providers reduce lending capacity for these borrowers.

BNP Paribas Securities Services has launched an AIFMD depositary banking service aimed at asset managers distributing non-European alternative investment funds into Europe. The service will help these asset managers comply with AIFMD (Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive), a European directive designed to introduce new levels of security and investor protection to the European fund management landscape.   As part of what is known as a ‘depositary-lite’ service, BNP Paribas Securities Services will offer safekeeping, oversight and cash monitoring of assets to a client base including managers of hedge funds, funds of hedge funds, private equity and real estate funds, on
Napier Park Global Capital’s financial partners team has completed the initial investment of the Napier Park Railcar Lease Fund, a USD370 million specialised, single-purpose private equity fund. DMS Offshore Investment Services has received approval from the Central Bank of Ireland for its AIFM passporting application to Luxembourg. The Central Bank has now forwarded the notification application to the Luxembourg authorities and this confirmation of transmission of the notification process technically completes that requirement under the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD).   "Whilst the Luxembourg authorities (CSSF) have the right to request further details on the matters covered in our programme of operations, at this point the Irish AIFM is in a position to be appointed as an alternative investment fund manager to Luxembourg alternative investments funds.

ResponseTap, a specialist in call tracking and analytics, has secured GBP4m of Series B funding including GBP2.5m from Beringea, which manages the ProVen Venture Capital Trusts, and GBP1.5m from Eden Ventures. ResponseTap will use this investment to accelerate expansion in the US and to continue support for its UK development team.

RiverVest Venture Partners has sold portfolio company Lumena Pharmaceuticals to Dublin-based Shire Plc in a transaction with an upfront payment of USD260 million in cash.
