Emergence Capital Partners, a venture capital firm focused on SaaS and technology-enabled services, has hired Sean Jacobsohn as venture partner.
Jacobsohn has a long track record at SaaS companies and is an experienced angel investor and adviser to start-up companies, including Emergence Capital portfolio company Doximity.
Jacobsohn is also co-founder and co-president of the Harvard Business School Alumni Angels, the largest university-affiliated angel group in the world.
Formerly the vice president of Worldwide Alliances at YouSendIt, an Emergence Capital portfolio company, Jacobsohn led global distribution partnerships for the freemium company.

Private equity manager Abraaj Capital has completed the acquisition of Aureos Capital, a private equity fund management group investing in small and mid-cap companies in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Tenaya Capital, a venture capital firm that invests in high-growth technology companies, has closed Tenaya Capital VI.
The USD372m fund was oversubscribed against a target of USD300m.
Tenaya VI marks the firm’s first independent fundraise since spinning out from Lehman Brothers in 2009. The firm has over USD1bn under management, including prior funds Tenaya IV (USD300m) and Tenaya V (USD365m).
Tenaya invests across technology sectors, including enterprise software, consumer internet, IT infrastructure, communications and electronics. The firm focuses on companies in the initial stages of revenue growth, and will make earlier or later-stage investments on a selective basis.

Public and private sector investment totalling GBP56m will lead to the development and demonstration of technologies to cut carbon emissions from road transport and accelerate the commercialisation of low carbon vehicles.
Over GBP27m of public funding, from the Office for Low Emission Vehicles and the Technology Strategy Board, together with GBP29m of private sector funding, will be invested in 17 major research, development and validation projects.

DFJ Gotham Ventures, an early-stage technology venture capital firm based in New York, has promoted Thatcher Bell to managing director.
Bell was previously a principal at the firm. He will join founding managing directors Ross Goldstein and Danny Schultz.

Pilot Flying J is to acquire a controlling interest in Maxum Petroleum for cash and Pilot Flying J’s contribution of Western Petroleum into Maxum.
Current investors, including Maxum management, Metalmark and Waud, will re-invest in the new venture.
Maxum is one of the largest independent energy logistics companies in North America, selling and distributing over 1.3 billion gallons of refined petroleum products and serving over 15,000 customers.
