Private equity firm Warburg Pincus has acquired majority ownership in FacilitySource, a provider of facility maintenance and management solutions to retailers and other multi-site operators. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. FacilitySource manages over 60,000 facilities worldwide via an elite service provider network, representing over USD1 billion in aggregated spend each year. A company owned by Permira, the European private equity firm, has successfully completed the acquisition of Genesys, a global expert in contact centre technology software, from Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU). Technology Crossover Ventures and certain co-investors of the Permira funds also participated in the transaction. The transaction values the company at USD1.5 billion. Domo, a new software-as-a-service (SaaS) venture launched by Omniture co-founder Josh James, has closed USD20 million in Series A-1 funding from Institutional Venture Partners (IVP). US venture capital (VC) investment in cleantech companies reached USD4.9 billion in 2011, flat in terms of deals and down 4.5% in terms of capital invested compared to 2010, according to an Ernst & Young LLP analysis based on data from Dow Jones VentureSource. The UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) has fined Ravi Shankar Sinha GBP2.867 million for fraudulently obtaining GBP1.367 million for himself from a company owned by a private equity fund advised by JC Flowers by means of a fictitious invoicing scheme. The financial penalty consists of GBP1.367 million disgorgement and a punitive element of GBP1.5 million. Sinha is also prohibited from performing any function in relation to any regulated activity in the financial services industry.
