Solar Investment Group, a Milan-based solar developer has launched its second development fund and third solar asset fund, targeting investments of up to 250MW of solar energy projects in Italy to take advantage of the strong Italian feed in tariff program. The firm, which develops solar plants in Italy, is in the process of closing their first fund after developing 28mw over the last 18 months, delivering an IRR of over 40%. Private equity firm HIG Capital, LLC has completed the previously announced purchase of the Building Block Chemicals (BBC) division of Cytec Industries Inc (NYSE: CYT).   Based outside of New Orleans, BBC is a leading manufacturer of melamine, acrylonitrile and sulfuric acid, which are key intermediate chemicals critical for the manufacturing of a broad array of products used in water treatment, oil recovery, agriculture, plastics, furniture, flooring and performance coatings. The business will be rebranded and operate under the name, “Cornerstone Chemical Company.”
Private equity firm Francisco Partners (FP) has announced the final closing of Francisco Partners III, LP (FP III) with USD2bn of capital commitments. FP III closed at the target and hard cap of the fund. FP provides transformational capital to middle market information technology companies. DynamicOps, a provider of private cloud automation software, has closed USD11 million in venture funding. The Series B round was led by Sierra Ventures, while Next World Capital participated, joining Credit Suisse’s Next II venture group in ownership.
