The Guernsey and Jersey governments have announced that the current British Ambassador to Bulgaria, Steve Williams, will be heading up the islands’ new joint office in Brussels. Williams will take on the role of Director of European Affairs at the Channel Islands’ Brussels Office on Monday 4 April 2011. He will be Guernsey and Jersey’s senior representative in Brussels, leading efforts to develop the islands’ influence, while advising the respective governments on European and international matters. Private equity firm Altamont Capital Partners has successfully closed its first fund with USD500 million of capital, with approximately 10% coming from the General Partner and its affiliates. Altamont was formed in 2010 by private equity veterans Jesse Rogers, Randall Eason and Keoni Schwartz. The fund will invest in change-intensive, middle market businesses across a range of industries, specifically seeking more complex situations where Altamont can partner with management to implement strategic and operational change. Global private equity firm The Riverside Company has acquired German auto accessory firm Rameder Anhängerkupplungen und Autoteile (Rameder). Rameder is a market leader in the distribution of automotive carrier systems and related accessories in Germany. The firm offers tow bars for almost any make and model car sold in Europe. In 2009, the company sold approximately 200,000 tow bars. Private equity investor Trevor Bayley, one of the founding partners of HgCapital, is backing a management takeover of Scottish recycling business Redeem.
