TargetCast Networks, a provider of out-of-home digital TV advertising, has received USD6.5m in its second formal round of venture capital funding from Claremont Creek Ventures and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
TargetCast previously raised USD6.3m in a series A investment led by Claremont Creek Ventures in September 2007. To date, the company has raised USD12.8m.
Jerry Hall, president and chief executive of TargetCast Networks, says the funding will be used to fuel expansion of the company’s advertising network and to cultivate strategic partnerships to sell advertising and to build an internal advertising sales team.

Vitech Systems, a provider of software and services to the alternative asset community, has signed seven new clients to the Equitrak platform during the first half of 2009.
These clients include Caledon Capital Management, IDeA Capital Funds SGR, Hauck & Aufhauser, and Thomas Weisel Partners Group.
Equitrak is a multi-lingual, multi-GAAP, and multi-currency fund administration solution.

Castanea Partners has appointed Jeffrey F. Rayport as operating partner.
Rayport has over 20 years of executive experience in information and marketing services.
Prior to Castanea, he was the founder and chairman of Marketspace, a strategy practice that works with companies to reinvent how they interact with customers and markets.
Previously, Rayport was a faculty member at Harvard Business School where he developed and taught the first e-commerce course in the US. He continues to teach in various executive programmes at the school.

After receiving initial start-up funding by the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse, and successful rounds of private financing which included follow-on investments by the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse and Innovation Works, Originate Ventures has taken the lead on a USD2.75m commitment intended to spearhead the commercialization of ThermalTherapeutic Systems proprietary new technology.

KKR has appointed Jonathan R. Levin to the newly created position of treasurer and head of investor relations.

HarbourVest Global Private Equity, a closed-end investment company listed on Euronext Amsterdam, has reported a 3.3 per cent rise in net asset value over the six months to 31 July 2009.
As at 31 July 2009, HVPE’s NAV was USD652.0m or USD7.86 per share. This represents an increase of USD0.25 per share, or 3.3 per cent over the six months from 31 January 2009 (USD7.61).
Of the USD0.25 increase in NAV per share, USD0.02 resulted from HarbourVest US fund of funds, USD0.11 from HarbourVest non-US fund of funds, USD0.06 from HarbourVest direct funds, and USD0.22 from unrealised foreign currency movement.
Quantum Energy Capital has held its final closing at USD2.5bn for Quantum Energy Partners V, a private equity fund dedicated to the energy industry.
Founded in 1998, Quantum has more than USD5.7bn of assets under management. Champlain Advisors acted as placement agent.

TiE-Arizona, the local chapter of the global association of entrepreneurs, will host a venture capital event that brings together entrepreneurs with top investors on 6 October.
This is the ninth year that TiE-Arizona has held the event. Local entrepreneurs are invited to attend and meet top venture capitalists from the nearby communities of Silicon Valley, Southern California, Utah and Colorado.
