Biosynth Carbosynth (Biosynth), a supplier of critical products and services to the life sciences industry, has acquired Pepscan, an expert provider of peptide-based products & services and portfolio company of the KKR Health Care Growth fund. Biosynth’s ability to deliver chemical manufacturing services “from the first idea to the finished product” is now matched in peptides, with Pepscan’s expertise in both lead discovery & optimisation and GMP production combining with the capabilities of vivitide, the US peptide specialists, which joined Biosynth in March. French speciality pharmaceutical company, Juvisé Pharmaceuticals has completed a transaction with AbbVie, regarding the acquisition of the worldwide commercial rights of Pylera. Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.   A €400 million financing was raised with Société Générale, Juvisé Pharmaceuticals historic and lead bank, supporting the funding of this latest acquisition together with the refinancing of its existing debt. Lazard and Latham & Watkins served as financial and legal advisors for Juvisé Pharmaceuticals, whereas White & Case served as legal advisors for Société Générale.
Investec has appointed Kate Gribbon as head of financial sponsor coverage for private equity, growth equity and venture capital. In the role, Gribbon will be responsible for sponsor coverage across Investec’s suite of advisory and debt solutions spanning private company fundraising, M&A and IPOs, leveraged finance and fund level finance. Gribbon joined Investec in 2020 to jointly lead the bank’s Private Company Fundraising team, advising ambitious, fast growing companies seeking growth capital. Prior to joining Investec, Gribbon spent 13 years advising in the M&A mid-market.
Birmingham-based smart-EV and energy storage startup WAU (We Are Universal) has raised £650,000 in a pre-seed funding round with Angel Investment Network, the world’s largest online angel investment platform. WAU, launched in 2018, is a fast-growing smart-EV vehicle platform transforming urban mobility. Alberta Enterprise has reached a CAD1 billion venture capital investment milestone in Alberta technology companies with its venture capital fund partners in 2021. Alberta Enterprise’s venture funds have invested in 65 Alberta technology startups which has created more than 2,400 direct jobs and an estimated 11,500 indirect jobs in the province. Four funds managed by Sequoia Capital China have secured a commitment of up to $150 million from the Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Trust (Mass PRIM), according to a report by Deal Street Asia. Sequoia Capital China Seed II will get $8.2 million, while $18.8 million will be allocated to Sequoia Capital China Venture IX, $61.5 million to Sequoia Capital China Growth VII, and up to $61.5 million to Sequoia Capital China Expansion I. Shareholders in SailPoint Technologies Holdings (SailPoint), a specialist in enterprise identity security, have voted to approve the company’s pending acquisition by software investment firm Thoma Bravo. The final voting results on the proposals voted on at the special meeting will be set forth in a Form 8-K filed by SailPoint with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, after certification by SailPoint’s inspector of elections. As previously announced, under the terms of the merger agreement, SailPoint stockholders will receive $65.25 in cash per share of SailPoint common stock they own.
