BGF has led on deals with a total enterprise value (EV) of £450 million in the North West in six months.
In the same period, BGF’s North West team has delivered a stand-out run of exits which has seen £150 million of capital returned from £72 million invested. Highlights include: the sale of Liverpool-based Sentric to Swiss music fintech company, Utopia Music; PTSG’s acquisition of NSS; and CurrentBody’s sale to eComplete.
This is in addition to the exit of Kids Planet, having accelerated the nursery group’s rollout from 17 to more than 80 sites during its investment period.

Zendesk is to be acquired by an investor group led by leading global investment firms Permira and Hellman & Friedman (H&F) in an all-cash transaction that values Zendesk at approximately $10.2 billion.
Under the terms of this agreement, Zendesk shareholders will receive $77.50 per share. The offer represents a premium of approximately 34% over Zendesk’s closing stock price on 23 June, 2022, the last full trading day prior to this announcement.

To date, Prime Trust has raised more than $170 million in funding and has become a category leader in infrastructure services for some of the world’s leading crypto exchanges, on ramps, wallet apps, ATSs, RIAs, broker dealers and banks.

Industrial Opportunity Partners (IOP), an operations-focused private equity firm, has completed the sale of portfolio company United Poly Systems Holdings (UPS) to Atkore, a global provider of electrical, safety and infrastructure solutions.
New York City-based venture capital firm Vine Ventures has closed its second fund, Fund II, with total commitments of $140 million from a raft of investors including Tiger Global Management, Goldman Sachs, General Atlantic, and Blackstone, according to a report by CTech.
The founders of Carta, Shutterstock, and Hippo are also all among the investors in the new fund which will focus on investments of between $1 million and $10 million in B2B companies in the cloud, cybersecurity, AI, data, and fintech sectors.

Brookfield Asset Management has closed its Brookfield Global Transition Fund (BGTF) with $15 billion in capital commitments, making it one of the largest funds raised with a focus on facilitating the global transition to a net-zero carbon economy.
The $15 billion includes investments from institutional investors in and alongside the fund, as well as amounts reserved for the private wealth channel.
Highlighting strong industry support for decarbonisation, demand for the fund significantly exceeded its initial hard cap, and the final fund size was oversubscribed. A diverse group of more than 100 investors from around the world committed to the Fund,
Private equity investments helped the Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System (Pen SERS) investment portfolio produce a return of approximately 17.2% in 2021, raising its total asset value to $40.2 billion in the process, according to a report by chief investment officer.
Although just short of the pensions fund’s benchmark return of 17.5%, the performance more than doubled the its assumed rate of return.
Private equity was the top performing asset class for the year with a return of 52.8%. Penn SERS’ PE investments have now returned 20.1% and 15% respectively over the past five and 10 years on an annualised basis.
