DEALS

Ropes & Gray has advised Acceleron in its USD11.5 billion sale to Merck & Co. This is one of Merck’s biggest acquisitions and diversifies the pharmaceutical company’s pipeline by adding Acceleron’s drugs to target rare diseases. The transaction was announced on 30 September.

PERFORMANCE

A new metric looking at the performance of private equity and venture capital funds has revealed a strong industry internal rate of return (IRR) of 19.6 per cent and Total Value to Paid In multiple (TVPI) of 1.9x for funds that started investing over the last decade.

FUNDRAISING

PSG, a growth equity firm partnering with middle-market software and technology-enabled services companies, has closed PSG V, its fifth US flagship fund, at its hard cap with USD4.5 billion in third-party limited partner commitments.
