BTIG has appointed Biju Kurian as Managing Director in its Technology, Media and Telecommunications Investment Banking unit.
Kurian will focus on investment banking opportunities for growth-oriented companies across enterprise software applications. He will be based in BTIG’s New York office, and report to Matt Clark, Chief Operating Officer, BTIG Investment Banking.
Prior to BTIG, Kurian was a Director within Investment Banking at Stifel, focused on financial sponsors coverage, and previously held roles within software investment banking and mergers and acquisitions while with the firm. Khalid Javaid has been appointed as Head of Legal at Blackstar Capital.
Javaid has over 20 years of experience as a banking and finance lawyer, with a focus on structured finance and securitisation transactions. In his new role at Blackstar Capital, he will be responsible for providing structuring, legal and execution advice in relation to transactions and new business, along with providing legal oversight of regulatory matters and government affairs.
Prior to his arrival at Blackstar, Javaid was a legal director at DLA Piper LLP and had worked for Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, both in London, after qualifying at
Squire Patton Boggs has promoted senior lawyers Louise Barber and Mae Salem to Partner.
Barber has a particular focus on cross-border public and private mergers and acquisitions (including public takeovers), equity capital markets transactions, joint ventures and corporate governance. From an M&A perspective, her experience includes advising UK, US and European companies on cross-border public and private transactions, and her capital markets experience includes advising on a number of initial public offering (IPO) and secondary fundraising transactions on the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market and AIM.
