The Maples Group has relocated its law firm, Maples and Calder (Jersey) LLP and its fiduciary and corporate services teams, Maples Fiduciary Services (Jersey) Limited, to a new office location at Sir Walter Raleigh House in St Helier.
The new five storey offices at Sir Walter Raleigh are bright and modern and occupy a prominent landmark position at the western end of the Esplanade, the prime office address in St Helier, overlooking the Esplanade and waterfront beyond. Jersey International Finance Centre is located a short walk away and neighbouring offices include a wide range of financial and professional services firms.
The Maples Group’s law firm, Maples and Calder, has appointed Heidi de Vries as the Managing Partner of its London office. De Vries (pictured) will take office on 1 December 2019, succeeding Paul Govier who is retiring from the firm.
Govier joined the firm 17 years ago and will continue to support the London office in a consultancy capacity until November 2020.
With immediate effect, de Vries will assume the position of Joint Managing Partner, working alongside Govier and will take on the role of sole Managing Partner from 1 December 2019.

Alternative asset manager Gresham House has appointed Geoff Lambert as Head of Compliance, effective 19 August 2019. Based out of the firm’s London office, Lambert will report to Samee Khan, General Counsel and Company Secretary of Gresham House.
Lambert joins Gresham House from Nikko Asset Management Europe (NAME), where he was responsible for leading the compliance team to ensure NAME met all its regulatory responsibilities, implementing MAR regulation and conducting ongoing project work for MiFID II, including project implementation. Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) specialist Hirtle Callaghan has appointed Stephen Vaccaro as Director of Private Equity.
Vaccaro is an accomplished investment professional with more than 15 years of experience in endowment management and consulting, including the University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, and BCG.
Vaccaro is working closely with Hirtle Callaghan’s investment team to oversee private equity investment efforts on behalf of the firm’s family, endowment, foundation, healthcare, and pension clients. He reports to Dan McCollum, Deputy Chief Investment Officer, who leads the firm’s manager selection and is himself an endowment veteran, having joined Hirtle Callaghan from Brown University.
Independent fund servicing provider Ultimus Fund Solutions (Ultimus) has appointed Nickolaus Darsch as Senior Vice President of Business Development.
In this role, Darsch will be responsible for building and strengthening strategic relationships with investment managers that can benefit from the Ultimus offering.
Darsch will focus on aligning the Ultimus suite of services to meet the needs of registered fund sponsors, primarily in the range of USD5 billion and USD50 billion in assets under management. Blackstone has appointed Limin Wang as a Managing Director on the Quantitative Research team in Blackstone Alternative Asset Management (BAAM).
Limin joins from Laurion Capital Management, where he spent four years as a Portfolio Manager. Prior to that, he spent over ten years with Credit Suisse as a director on their proprietary trading desk. He also has held roles at Lehman Brothers and at Columbia University, where he served as a research scientist in theoretical physics. He holds a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Pennsylvania, an MPhil/MA in Physics from Columbia University, and a BA in Physics
