Specialist financier ExWorks Capital is moving its London office to 33 Central, King William Street in the City of London from its previous London headquarters on Cornhill. Over the past two years, the Chicago-based company, which opened its first international office in London in 2017, has enjoyed notable success, ensuring that the company’s excellent reputation has been upheld in the United Kingdom (UK). Grasshopper Bank, a new commercial venture bank for innovation economy companies and the venture capital firms that fund them, has appointed Barbara Fleming as Head of Venture Capital and Private Equity Relationships.  Fleming joins from Bridge Bank, where she helped launch and expand its private equity and venture capital direct lending group. While there, Fleming lead the group’s business development efforts, product rollout, credit policy implementation, and portfolio management. She has more than 30 years of experience in a variety of business development focused banking roles, and prior to joining Bridge Bank served as Senior Vice President at Square 1
Timothy (Tim) Swan has joined BakerHostetler as a partner in the firm’s Business Group. Swan, who was previously a partner at Sidley Austin LLP and, most recently, at Frost Brown Todd LLC, will be resident in the firm’s Cincinnati office. Swan advises clients through a variety of technology transactions, most often in the life sciences, healthcare IT and information technology sectors. He also works with clients and investors on equity and convertible debt financings. Augusta, a UK-based itigation and dispute funding institution, has appointed Polly Bahl as Chief Operating Officer, based in London.  Bahl joins from US law firm Proskauer Rose where, as London Director of Professional and Administrative Resources, she coordinated a range of operational functions. A solicitor by training, Bahl qualified with SJ Berwin (now King & Wood Mallesons) where she became a partner specialising in private investment funds, a role which latterly incorporated various operational responsibilities. Astarte Capital Partners, an alternatives co-investment platform, has appointed Omar Habboush, CFA, to its business development team as an Associate.  Habboush joins recent hires Richard Templer, Finance Director, and Bruno Fumach, Investment Director, in the London office.   Prior to his appointment at Astarte Capital Partners, Habboush gained seven years of experience at Citigroup in London, where he was part of the Institutional Sales team and worked with UK, European and Middle Eastern pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and central banks. Makoto Nagao has been appointed to the newly created role of Director, Business Development adding further strength to SANNE’s Asia-Pacific business. With more than 35 years of experience, Nagao brings a wealth of knowledge, following a lengthy career with Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, SMFG. While he was at SMFG, Nagao-san was General Manager in areas such as Shinjuku Corporate Business and the Equity Portfolio Department within SMBC, part of the SMFG organisation. Investec has appointed Ajeeth Narayan as Global Head of Investec Aviation Finance. Mike Francis will be executive lead of the Aviation Finance franchise, and Celia Britt will become Chief Operating officer. Narayan and Francis were two of the four founders of the Investec Aviation Finance franchise in 2002, and have been with Investec ever since.
