Neuberger Berman has named David Eckert as global head of infrastructure, effective 1 June. Eckert, who has 18 years of corporate technology and operations experience, comes to Neuberger Berman from ING, where he was global chief operating officer/chief information officer for its investment management and insurance business.
At Neuberger Berman, Eckert, 45, will report to Andrew Komaroff, chief operating officer, and work closely with the existing senior leadership of the firm’s information technology and operations groups.

Institutional Venture Partners (IVP) has promoted Jules Maltz (pictured) to General Partner. Maltz joins Todd Chaffee, Norm Fogelsong, Steve Harrick, Sandy Miller and Dennis Phelps as the sixth General Partner of the firm.
Maltz joined IVP in August 2008. He focuses on later-stage venture investments in rapidly-growing Internet and software companies. Maltz led IVP’s investment in Buddy Media and was actively involved in IVP’s investments in LivingSocial, Marketo, ngmoco, Sugar, Spiceworks, Twitter and Yext. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Buddy Media and H5.

Venture capital Morgenthaler Ventures, a leading venture capital firm, today announced the addition of Mark Goines as partner. Goines has an extensive track record of working successfully with high growth companies as an entrepreneur, executive and angel investor. Exits from his angel investments include Mint, Baby Center, PayCycle and Nolo.com.
Goines was also an angel investor in Morgenthaler investments, Pageonce and Practice Fusion, and currently represents Morgenthaler on Practice Fusion’s board. He joins Morgenthaler’s IT Team based in Menlo Park, CA.

Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) has appointed technology and life science banker Mercy Forde and VC fund CFO Nina Labatt to its Venture Capital and Private Equity Services team, which is dedicated to providing the financial services required by venture capital and private equity firms. Having worked closely with venture capitalists for nearly 30 years, SVB has become the preferred banker to more than half of the venture capital firms in the US.

Lloyds Bank Corporate Markets has promoted Simon Dixon (pictured) to director in its Acquisition Finance team in Leeds.
Dixon has over 20 years of experience at Lloyds Banking Group and has worked in the Acquisition Finance team since 2006.
During this time as associate director, Dixon led and co-led a number of regional private equity-backed mid-market transactions, including providing leveraged debt to support LDC-backed Aesica Pharmaceuticals’ recent bolt-on acquisitions, Phoenix Equity Partners’ GBP100 million investment in Andrew Page, BPE’s GBP75 million MBO of West Yorkshire-based Allied Glass and LDC’s 2008 MBO of Eve Trakway Ltd.
In his new
Spring Mountain Capital, LP (SMC), an investment management firm that focuses on alternative asset investing, has appointed Avi Faliks, PhD, and Jamie Weston as Managing Directors in its private equity business.
As senior members of the private equity team, Faliks and Weston will partner with Raymond Wong, Managing Director and Head of Private Equity, to further extend SMC’s capabilities in sourcing, selecting, and managing its private equity investments.

Natural Gas Partners (NGP), one of the leading private equity investors in the oil and gas industry, has appointed Maurice F Storm as a Venture Partner.
Storm launched his extensive relationship with NGP in 2002 as founder and Chief Executive Officer of Crow Creek Energy, LLC. Crow Creek was a USD10 million start-up portfolio company sponsored by NGP that was sold in 2006 for USD71.5 million. Capitalising on Storm’s deal-finding skills, NGP sponsored a second company, Crow Creek Energy II, LLC, which began operations under Mr. Storm’s leadership in October 2006 with USD195 million of NGP equity. Harvey M Eisenberg and Douglas A Ryder will join the New York office of International law firm Weil, Gotshal & Man as partners in its private equity practice group. Eisenberg and Ryder come to Weil from O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
Eisenberg has held a number of leadership positions at his former firm, including head of its Global Transactions department and most recently, he served as the Co-Chair of its Strategy Committee. He was a member of its Investment Funds and Mergers & Acquisitions practices and has more than 25 years of experience representing alternative asset managers, particularly private equity firms
International Financial Centre law firm Walkers has made a series of senior management changes within the firm’s global group.
With the forthcoming retirement of Global Chairman Wayne Panton, who has been an attorney with Walkers since 1988 and a partner with the firm since 1997, this key strategic role is to be taken on by current Global Managing Partner Grant Stein (pictured), with effect from 1 July 2011. Steve Belgrad (pictured) is leaving his role as Chief Financial Officer of HarbourVest Global Private Equity Limited to take up a senior position in the asset management sector. His resignation is effective 31 May 2011.
