European mid-market private equity firm Palamon Capital Partners has appointed Ricardo Caupers as a vice-president.
He was previously a principal in the London office of Boston Consulting Group, having earlier been a consultant and then project leader with the firm in New York.
Caupers (pictured) joins Palamon’s London-based team, which comprises 15 investment professionals from ten different countries. The firm, with EUR1.1bn of equity under management, is currently investing its second pan-European fund, Palamon European Equity II.
Daan Knottenbelt, partner and member of Palamon’s operating committee, says: ‘We continue to build our team and are delighted to now welcome Ricardo. The recruitment of high calibre individuals such as Ricardo is consistent with our strategy to steadily build out our pan-European capabilities. Particularly in the current environment, we see many new opportunities throughout Europe to enhance and expand businesses in selected service sectors.’
Says Caupers: ‘Palamon’s strategy of investing on a pan-European level in growth services business is very exciting for me. I look forward to working with the experienced Palamon team to develop opportunities not only in my home country, Portugal, but also across the whole of Europe.’
In November 2008, Palamon invested in DS Produkte, one of Germany’s distributors of consumer products. Other investments include Retail Decisions, a UK-based, global payment card service provider, which recently accelerated its European expansion with the acquisition of the fuel card operations of Lomo, the German operator.
