RRJ Capital, a Hong Kong and Singapore based private equity firm led by ex-Goldman Sachs banker Richard Ong, is considering making a €5bn bid for Vodafone’s Spanish business, according to a report by Investing.com.
Citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter, the report said that while RRJ Capital has arranged financing, it has not finalised the bid yet. If the PE firm were to go ahead, it would be challenging earlier bids for Vodafone Spain by Zegona Communications Plc, Warburg Pincus, and Apollo Global Management.
RRJ Capital has previously invested €500m in Vantage Towers AG, a Vodafone unit that has also sold stakes to KKR & Co and Global Infrastructure Partners.
