Technology continues to infiltrate every aspect of global business. Not a day goes by where the impact of platforms like Amazon, Facebook etc, isn’t felt by those in the asset management industry. The fact is, investor habits are rapidly changing and the way they choose to invest is beginning to mirror the way they use technology to support all other aspects of their lives, from shopping online to algorithms providing recommendations, personally curated to them, on Netflix.
Over half of private equity and real estate fund managers are less than satisfied with their firm’s current level of cybersecurity arrangements, according to a new survey carried out by fund administrator Augentius.
Some 54 per cent of managers also identified cybersecurity as one of their top two priorities for technology investment this year, with the other leading priority being data management and cloud.
The survey, which polled the views of firms across the globe, shows the extent to which managers prioritise investing in their businesses’ technology, in a sector that was once regarded as relatively low-tech.

Verto Management, a newly formed waste to value and integrated renewable energy asset management platform, has selected PEF Services to provide fund administration services through its fund accounting platform.

Carey Olsen has advised Techemy Capital Limited on the launch of HODL 1 – a closed-ended fund vehicle targeting investments into private-sale stage initial coin offerings (ICOs).
The fund, which has been authorised under the Jersey Private Fund regime, has appointed Techemy Capital Limited as investment adviser and will invest in cryptographic token deal flow.
The Techemy Group, based in New Zealand, owns and operates a range of businesses which assist in institutionalising this new asset class.
