Tatum appoints managing director of private equity

Tatum, an executive services firm and division of SFN Group, has appointed Joe Burkhart as managing director of private equity.

He will be combining forces with Tatum’s west coast private equity practice leader, James Hickey, and will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with investment banks, private equity funds and other financial services companies throughout the US.

Rich D’Amaro (pictured), president of Tatum, says: “Tatum is investing in its leadership team within its private equity practice to continue our history of partnering with private equity to accelerate results. Joe’s proven track record in structured finance and private equity strategies will be an asset, expanding our capacity for Tatum’s current and future clients.”

Prior to joining Tatum, Burkhart was the managing director of the federal business unit at The Mergis Group, one of Tatum’s sister divisions within SFN Group.

Previously, he was the director of business development for American Capital’s private equity group where he led the group’s deal origination, screening and staffing.

Prior to joining American Capital, he was managing director at EJF Capital where he worked with the firm’s principals in the development and investment management of structured finance and private equity focused strategies.

He began his career at Allied Capital (now Ares Capital) where he rose to vice president in the private finance group.
