Global private equity major Warburg Pincus, with AUM totalling AUD123bn ($83bn), has made a strategic move into the Australian housing market by partnering with MA Financial to launch a new AUD1bn ($673,000) investment vehicle, according to a report by the Australian Financial Review.
The partnership, which aims to address the funding gap in Australia’s residential property sector by providing critical financing to developers, will see Warburg Pincus support MA Financial’s Australian real estate credit vehicle.
MA Financial, formerly known as Moelis Australia, will manage the fund, which is set to finance a wide range of development projects, including high-density residential complexes, medium-density housing and land subdivision projects.
