Corpay in talks over potential cash acquisition of Alpha Group

Business payments specialist Corpay has confirmed it is in discussions regarding a potential all-cash offer for Alpha Group International, a UK-listed provider of financial services and consultancy solutions, according to a report by Reuters.

Under UK takeover regulations, Corpay is required to either announce a firm intention to make an offer for Alpha or terminate its interest by 30 May 2025.

The potential transaction comes amid a broader resurgence in UK dealmaking. A recent survey conducted in November 2024 indicated that private equity investors anticipate a further uptick in UK M&A activity in 2025.

Alpha, which provides fintech-driven solutions and advisory services to a global client base, reported a 10% increase in full-year underlying pre-tax profit in March, reaching £47.4m. Its shares rose as much as 6.4% to 2,920 pence on Friday and are up over 17% year-to-date. Corpay shares were trading 2.1% higher at 16:38 GMT.
