OrthoBethesda, a physician-led and majority physician-owned provider of orthopaedic services to the greater Washington, DC region and a portfolio company of Atlantic Street Capital, has formed a strategic partnership with Shady Grove Orthopaedics (Shady Grove), its 2nd announced transaction of 2022. In January, OrthoBethesda partnered with Washington Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine (WOSM) to create the region’s leading multi-subspeciality orthopaedic platform. Concurrent with closing of this transaction, the platform is rebranding to Aligned Orthopedic Partners (Aligned Ortho).
GovExec, an information and intent-based marketing platform for government leaders and contractors, has acquired Power Almanac, an actionable business intelligence application housing data and insights on US local government decision-makers. The deal was completed with financial support from mid-market private equity firm Growth Catalyst Partners (GCP). GovExec initially made a strategic investment in Power Almanac in June 2021 with the ability to increase its investment over time. Given the powerful potential to combine Power Almanac with GovExec’s state and local platform, the company has decided to acquire the intelligence data provider.  The financial terms of the investment have not been
Pixelle Specialty Solutions Holding (Pixelle), a provider of fibre-based specialty solutions in North America and portfolio company of Lindsay Goldberg, is to be acquired by an affiliate of alternative investment firm HIG Capital (HIG). Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.   Pixelle was formed in 2018 by Lindsay Goldberg, a private investment firm that focuses on partnering with families, founders and management teams seeking to actively build their businesses. Pixelle has built an industry-leading four-mill specialty paper platform with mills in Chillicothe, OH; Jay, ME; Spring Grove, PA; and Stevens Point, WI. Collectively the mills operate 11 paper
Kellermeyer Bergensons Services (KBS), a partner to operations and facility managers across North America, has acquired Kimco Holdings  and Kimco Facility Services (Kimco). KBS is a portfolio company of alternative investment firm Cerberus Capital Management.   Founded in 1970 and headquartered in Atlanta, Kimco is a national provider of customised commercial cleaning programmes, facility maintenance, and associated services. With its array of technology-enabled facility services, the company supports clients across business and industrial end markets, including telecommunications, industrial and manufacturing, government, education, healthcare, and banking and finance. Kimco will operate as a KBS company.
BluePeak Private Capital – an alternative asset management firm with a strong focus on impact in Africa – has invested in ieng, a pan-African provider of engineering and construction, operations and maintenance, and hybrid power solutions to Africa’s burgeoning telecom sector. The USD20 million growth capital supports ieng’s geographic expansion plan across the continent, enabling the company to provide innovative and cost-effective solutions to a broader range of clients and industries, solidifying its position as a leading provider of end-to-end infrastructure services and cutting-edge solutions.  In addition, the investment advances ieng’s strategy to meet growing consumer demand for telecom infrastructure
WhiteStar Asset Management (WhiteStar), the CLO, structured products, and broadly syndicated credit arm of Clearlake Capital Group, has acquired the five reinvesting Collateralised Loan Obligations (CLOs) managed by Carlson CLO Advisers, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Carlson Capital. Totaling more than USD2 billion and branded under the Cathedral Lake shelf, WhiteStar will assume collateral management duties of the Cathedral Lake CLOs effective 31 March, 2022. This marks the second acquisition of CLO contracts by WhiteStar in less than four months. Tikehau Capital, a global alternative asset manager, and Goldman Sachs Asset Management, have provided a HoldCo PIK facility to support Ardian’s acquisition of Biofarma, an Italian-based nutraceutical CDMO. Through the provision of this facility, Tikehau Capital and Goldman Sachs Asset Management are partnering with Biofarma’s management team and Ardian to support the company’s growth strategy which seeks to consolidate the market in Europe.   With more than EUR230 million revenue, Biofarma is a leading European CDMO player in the development, manufacturing and packaging of health supplements, medical devices, probiotic-based drugs, and cosmetics. 
Thomas H Lee Partners (THL), a private equity firm investing in growth companies, is to acquire a majority interest in Intelligent Medical Objects (IMO), a healthcare data enablement company and market leader in clinical terminology solutions from Warburg Pincus, a global growth investor. THL’s investment will support the Company’s product development and expanded commercial relationships with hospitals and other health care providers. HITS Shows announced today it has secured a majority investment from Traub Capital Partners (TCP). TCP will further invest in the five show locations currently operated by the company.   HITS will continue to operate as HITS Shows, and its leadership team and workforce will remain in place based out of Saugerties, New York.  The investment by TCP will allow HITS to make improvements to all five venues with the goal of not only investing in the facilities and infrastructure, but also in elevating the level of service and hospitality.
Budget Insight, an aggregator of banking and financial data in France, has secured USD35 million (EUR31 million) in funding from PSG Equity (PSG), a growth equity firm partnering with software and technology-enabled services companies to help accelerate their growth and build scale across Europe and the US. PSG will be a shareholder alongside the management team and Crédit Mutuel Arkéa. Crédit Mutuel Arkéa invested in Budget Insight in 2019.
