Apex Group has acquired BEST Alternative Advisory Services (BEST), an India-based, specialised financial services provider. The acquisition of BEST will add assets under administration (AuA) of USD30 billionn to the Apex Group, and an additional 35 employees based in Mumbai. BEST delivers fund services tailored to both open and closed-ended fund client profiles including Private Equity, Fund of Funds, Mutual Funds, Managed Accounts and Hedge Funds.   The addition of BEST will support current and future Apex clients looking to enter the Indian market, and for Indian domiciled funds to operate and invest internationally.   Terms of the transaction are
Blue Horizon, a pure-play impact investor accelerating the transition to a new Sustainable Food System, has made a seed financing round investment in Tomorrow Foods, a specialist developer of plant-based protein systems and solutions for the food and beverage industry. This marks Blue Horizon’s very first seed investment in South America.  Tomorrow Foods is a regional expert in the development of plant-based protein systems for the Latin-American food and beverage industry. The new funding will allow the company to accelerate its business expansion across the region.  To date, Blue Horizon has raised funds of over USD850 million and invested in
Headmade Materials, the inventor of the metal 3D printing process ColdMetalFusion (Metal SLS), has closed a EUR2.5 million Series A financing round with additive manufacturing specialist AM Ventures as lead investor. The btov Industrial Technologies Fund also participated in the funding round as an existing shareholder.  Additionally, the 3D printing company will receive a funding of up to EUR5.8 million under the European Union Innovation Council’s Accelerator Program. Headmade Materials will use the funds for the extensive expansion of production capacities, the product portfolio and international sales.
Gamma Technologies, a specialist in integrated multi-physics system simulation software, has secured a strategic investment from New York-based global private equity and venture capital firm, Insight Partners. Insight Partners joins existing investors TA Associates, a leading global growth private equity firm, and Cove Hill Partners, a long-term oriented private equity firm. At the same time, TA is also making a significant new investment in the business. TA, which first invested in GT in 2015, remains the company’s largest shareholder; Insight Partners and Cove Hill, an investor since 2018, will each be significant minority shareholders.
Orthox Limited, a clinical stage company developing medical implants to repair damaged knee articular cartilage and other orthopaedic injuries, has secured a further USD4.3 million (GBP3.2 million) investment to close its USD12.5 million (GBP9.2 million) Series A financing round. The financing will support further clinical trials of its lead product, FibroFix, at Southmead Hospital Bristol, UK and in Budapest, Hungary. The current financing was led by Parkwalk, a UK active investor in the university spin-out sector, joined by existing shareholders including Oxford Technology & Innovations EIS Fund (OTIF), advised by Oxford Investment Consultants LLP, and Perivoli Innovations. symplr, a specialist in enterprise healthcare operations including governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) SaaS solutions, backed by Clearlake Capital Group and Charlesbank Capital Partners, has completed its acquisition of Midas Health Analytics Solutions (Midas) from Conduent Incorporated (Conduent). The acquisition of Midas represents symplr’s 15th acquisition in the past six years, and its tenth under sponsorship from Clearlake since November 2018.  Additionally, in January 2022, Clearlake and symplr announced new and follow-on capital via a Clearlake-managed single asset vehicle fund, providing symplr with access to approximately USD1.6 billion in equity capital. 
Credit Bureau Connection (CBC), a provider of credit report and compliance solutions to automotive dealers, lenders, and other end markets, has acquired Dealer Safeguard Solutions (DSGSS), a SaaS provider of compliance and workflow solutions for the automotive retail industry. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.  CBC is backed by the Capstreet Group (Capstreet), a Houston-based lower middle market private equity firm.
eAgronom, a startup that provides farm management software (FMS) and AI-backed consulting services for farmers, has raised USD7.4 million in funding. The Series A equity round was led by Yolo Investments and ZGI Capital, with participation from Trind VC, Iron Wolf Capital and United Angels VC. eAgronom is also the recipient of a USD600,000 EU grant.
Vicarius, developers of a fully autonomous end-to-end vulnerability remediation platform, has raised USD24 million in a Series A round led by AllegisCyber Capital, JVP, and AlleyCorp. Executives from Okta, SecurityScorecard, and Exabeam also providing capital. Founded by three security experts, Michael Assraf, Yossi Ze’evi and Roi Cohen, Vicarius equips IT and security teams with a fully automated and consolidated platform, TOPIA, to assess, prioritise, and remediate vulnerabilities in applications, assets, and operating systems.
RedTeam Software (RedTeam), a construction management software provider, has acquired paskr, a cloud-based construction management solution. In conjunction with the transaction, Braemont Capital and JettyCove are recapitalising RedTeam to support the acquisition and provide capital to fund growth and further platform innovation across their growing suite of products. Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
