Ernst & Young expands US M&A and capital & debt advisory business

Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services (TAS) has expanded its US M&A and Capital & Debt Advisory business, which provides sector-specific advice on transaction strategies, buy- and sell-side M&A execution, and private capital raising.

The US M&A and Capital & Debt Advisory team helps corporations and private equity firms improve their competitive position through Ernst & Young LLP’s affiliated registered broker-dealer, Ernst & Young Capital Advisors.

"Our US practice in M&A and Capital and Debt Advisory builds on our deep industry experience with the automotive, technology, oil and gas, healthcare, real estate, consumer products and life sciences sectors, with plans to expand across many of our 16 global industry sectors. This team of industry professionals provides objective and innovative insights around investing and capital-raising as well as monetizing assets."

James W Carter is now President and CEO of Ernst & Young Capital Advisors, LLC. Carter has more than 25 years of investment banking and financial advisory experience, focused on automotive and industrial industry transactions. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, he was a Managing Director at Macquarie Capital (USA) Inc.

Jeffrey Liu, Principal and Senior Managing Director, is the US Technology Sector Leader for Ernst & Young Capital Advisors, LLC, and brings 15 years of corporate finance and M&A experience in the technology industry. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Liu was a Managing Director in Global Technology Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. Prior to that, he was Managing Director at Deutsche Bank and a management consultant at McKinsey & Company.

Mike McNamara, Principal and Senior Managing Director, is the US Real Estate Sector Leader for Ernst & Young Capital Advisors, LLC. McNamara brings more than 19 years of expertise as a real estate investment banker, lender, investor, and advisor in the European, Middle Eastern, Indian, African and North American markets across a variety of different industries. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, he was with RBS as a Managing Director in the Investment Banking Division and Head of Real Estate Products. 

Ronald Montalbano , Principal and Senior Managing Director, is the US Oil & Gas Sector Leader for Ernst & Young Capital Advisors, LLC. Montalbano brings 19 years of investment banking experience advising energy companies on M&A and public and private capital markets strategies. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, he was a Managing Director at Stephens Inc. and a Partner and Managing Director for Energy Capital Solutions.

Gregory Park , Principal and Senior Managing Director, is the US Healthcare Sector Leader for Ernst & Young Capital Advisors, LLC, and brings 22 years of investment banking and corporate finance experience in the healthcare sector. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Park was a Managing Director in Healthcare Investment Banking at RBC Capital Markets. Prior to that, he was also responsible for global loan structuring, syndication and sales, healthcare leveraged finance and healthcare investment banking at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup, as well as a founding member of the healthcare investment banking group at CIT.

Benjamin Perkins , Principal and Senior Managing Director, is the US Life Sciences Sector Leader for Ernst & Young Capital Advisors, LLC, and brings 15 years of investment banking and corporate finance experience in the life sciences sector. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Perkins was a Managing Director in Global Healthcare Banking at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and a Managing Director at Pacific Growth Equities.

Steven Potter, Principal and Senior Managing Director, is the US Consumer Products Leader for Ernst & Young Capital Advisors, LLC, and brings more than 20 years of investment banking experience and deep relationships in the consumer products sector. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Potter was a Partner at SCP Worldwide LLC, a Managing Director of the consumer group at Bank of America and Managing Director of the Food and Beverage group at Deutsche Bank.
