Global proptech venture capital firm Pi Labs has secured USD90 million for its oversubscribed latest fund, which will back startups revolutionising the real estate world through technology. This is Pi Labs’ third proptech fund and its largest to date.  The fund’s primary focus will be to invest in early stage proptech startups – from pre-seed to series A stage – around the world, with average investments ranging from USD500,000-USD1.5 million per deal, plus follow-on capital. With a USD90 million investment platform and looking to back the next global proptech unicorn, Pi Labs will also deploy capital during later stage rounds
HarbourVest Partners, a global private markets investment specialist, has held the final close of its HIPEP IX Fund at over USD1.6 billion in commitments. The Fund closed above the target size of USD1.25 billion. HIPEP IX provides investors with access to leading private equity managers and investments in Europe and Asia Pacific, the two major private equity markets outside of the United States. The primary programme is complemented by secondary transactions and direct co-investments which are designed to potentially accelerate performance and enhance overall returns. Kirkland & Ellis has advised Australian private equity firm BGH Capital on the successful closing of its second vintage flagship private equity fund, BGH Capital Fund II, at approximately AUSD3.6 billion, making it the largest-ever private equity vehicle raised for deployment in Australia and New Zealand. The fund was oversubscribed with a broad mix of global institutional investors, including sovereigns, pensions, endowments and fund of funds.  Kirkland also represented BGH Capital in raising its debut fund, BGH Capital Fund I, which was the largest first-time fund raised for Australia and New Zealand at AUD2.6 billion in 2018.
Atlas Venture, an early stage venture capital firm investing in biotech innovation, has closed its thirteenth fund, raising USD450 million in an oversubscribed fundraise. With Fund XIII, Atlas Venture will continue working alongside talented entrepreneurs to create and invest in a new set of biotech companies aimed at delivering impactful medicines to patients. NatWest Trustee and Depositary Services has been appointed as the depositary for Beechbrook Capital’s latest fund in its UK SME strategy, Beechbrook UK SME Credit III LP. Beechbrook Capital is a specialist direct lender which focuses on investments in small to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) across a range of industries in the UK and Europe. Growth capital investor VGC Partners is launching a GBP10m specialist EIS fund that will invest in early-stage businesses working with the next generation of technology and consumers. The fund will focus on businesses at Series A stage in consumer technology, digital media and gaming. PA Capital has held final closes for two of its private equity funds earlier, with its ninth flagship fund, PA Small Company Private Equity Fund IX (Fund IX) closing at USD473 million, above its USD350 million target, and the PA Small Company Co-investment Fund II (Co-invest II) at its USD200 million hard cap. Pictet has added to its private equity offering with a new vintage of the successful Monte Rosa Co-Investment franchise.
