Shield Capital (SHIELD) has launched its inaugural venture capital fund to support entrepreneurs building technologies critical to commercial and national security customers. Formed in stealth mode, Shield Capital Fund I (SHIELD), LP exceeded target capitalisation of USD120 million. Serent Capital, a growth-focused private equity firm that invests in founder-led B2B software companies, has closed its fifth and largest fund to date, Serent Capital Fund V, at USD1.1 billion. Serent Capital Fund V was oversubscribed and closed in less than 100 days. Early-stage venture capital LiveOak Venture Partners, a venture capital firm based in Austin, Texas, has promoted Creighton Hicks and Mike Marcantonio to Partner. The promotions coincide with the launch of the firm’s third fund, a USD210 million vehicle focused on early-stage companies in Texas. The pair join Founding Partners Venu Shamapant and Krishna Srinivasan who launched LiveOak nearly a decade ago. Gilde Healthcare has raised EUR517 million towards the first and final close of Gilde Healthcare Private Equity IV (GHPE IV). GHPE IV focuses on investments in profitable healthcare companies operating in the lower mid-market in Northwest Europe. A fund managed by Blockchain Coinvestors, a blockchain venture fund of funds and coinvestment programme with a combined portfolio of more than 300 blockchain enterprises and projects, including 30+ blockchain unicorns, has been ranked as the number one 2019 vintage fund-of-funds in the less than USD99m AUM category based on Q3 2021 data, by Preqin. BEX Capital, an investment firm focused exclusively on secondaries in private equity fund-of-funds (FoF), secondaries funds and co-investment funds, has closed BEX Fund IV at USD765 million, in excess of its USD600 million target. This was the first close of BEX Fund IV, with fundraising completed in only three months. BEX Capital received strong support from existing investors who increased their commitments to BEX Fund IV by 50 per cent.
