Lower mid-market private equity firm NorthEdge has backed the primary management buyout of Meet, an international talent provider to the life sciences sector. Meet is a global talent acquisition partner to some of the world’s most exciting life sciences businesses. VH Global Sustainable Energy Opportunities (GSEO) – a London-listed investment company advised by Victory Hill Capital Advisors LLP (Victory Hill) – has made a GBP78 million programme commitment to fund innovative net zero flexible power generation projects in the UK, which support the energy transition towards more renewable power generation. GSEO’s investment will fund the construction of two combined heat and power plants which bring together high-efficiency, gas-fired engines technology with a carbon capture and re-use system to provide a clean, net-zero, flexible and dependable electricity solution for the UK. Maven Capital Partners (Maven) has led a GBP4.4 million investment in Candle Shack, an eCommerce business supplying candle making components as well as providing contract candle manufacture for high profile, luxury brands.  The transaction includes GBP3 million of funding from Maven’s high net worth investment syndicate, Maven Investor Partners, as well as a GBP1.4 million debt facility from HSBC UK. Candle Shack employs 105 staff and operates from its 100,000 sq ft West Carron facility in central Scotland encompassing a fulfilment centre, development lab and manufacturing. L Squared Capital Partners has acquired  of Chicago-based Sterling Trading Tech (STT) from LLR Partners and other investors, a SaaS provider of financial technology for the global capital markets.  The investment represents L Squared’s fourth platform investment in Fund III, a USD505 million private equity fund that closed in September 2020. Macquarie Capital is to sell Dovel Technologies (Dovel) to Guidehouse, a portfolio company of Veritas Capital.  Dovel is a leading expert to federal agencies that blends deep domain expertise and advanced technologies in the health IT, life sciences, public safety and grants management markets. Macquarie acquired a majority stake in Dovel in 2019 and established a plan to further grow and scale the company. Eventus Systems, a provider of multi-asset class trade surveillance and market risk solutions, has closed a USD30 million Series B funding round, led by Centana Growth Partners.  Also participating in the round were DRW VC, an arm of principal trading firm DRW, CMT Digital, existing investors Jump Capital and LiveOak Venture Partners, along with several new strategic investors.
