Mammoth Scientific, a health science and technology venture capital firm, has launched a new USD100 million venture capital fund.
Co-founders Dr Jay Yadav, Tommy Martin, Kim Mackrill, Dr Matthew McGirt and Jud Mackrill provide venture capital for health science and technology companies who are maturing beyond seed rounds. The Mammoth team includes seasoned physician entrepreneurs and highly successful operational managers, representing a twenty-year track record of creating and investing in multiple successful startups with large exits to major global companies (eg, Abbott Laboratories, Boston Scientific, Johnson & Johnson) or to the public markets.

The Edinburgh-based business investment group, Archangels, has led investment of GBP12.4 million in innovative Scottish tech and life sciences companies in the first half of 2021 (H1 2020: GBP9.5 million).
Archangels’ H1 2021 deals data, released today (14th July 2021), reveals that Archangels itself invested GBP7.3 million during the first six months of 2021, with co-investment of GBP3.1 million from Scottish Enterprise and GBP2.0 million from a range of other co-investors. Archangels’ investment of GBP7.3 million is a record for any six month period.

Envestnet and iCapital Network1 (iCapital) have announced a strategic relationship to deliver access to curated UBS and iCapital alternative investment products through Envestnet’s platform. To power the initiative, Envestnet will launch the Alternatives Exchange, a new solution designed to provide these products to the firm’s clients, leveraging iCapital’s turnkey technology through single-sign-on access.

Investec acted as sole financial adviser on two strategic acquisitions for Halo Technology, an Inflexion backed portfolio asset.
The two strategic acquisitions consisted of both Aria Technologies, a designer, manufacturer and provider of optical connectivity solutions in the USA and Solid Optics, a Dutch based provider of fibre optic transceivers, high-speed cabling and networking technology.
AttackIQ, the independent vendor of Breach and Attack Simulation (BAS) systems, has completed a USD44 million Series C funding round led by Atlantic Bridge. Saudi Aramco Energy Ventures (SAEV) and Gaingels also joined existing investors Index Ventures, Khosla Ventures, Salesforce Ventures, and Telstra Ventures, bringing the total funding to approximately USD79 million. The company announced that Kevin Dillon, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Atlantic Bridge, has also joined the AttackIQ Board of Directors.
The new funding comes at a dynamic time for the company, which has recently accelerated its international expansion efforts throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa

The Riverside Company, a global private investor focused on the smaller end of the middle market, has invested in Presence, a leading campus engagement and learning platform for higher education institutions. The investment is an add-on to Riverside’s Modern Campus, the leading modern learner engagement platform, also for higher education institutions.

Specright, a specialist in specification Management software, which enables companies to manage and share supply chain data across suppliers, manufacturers, and retailers, has secured USD30 million in a Series B round of funding.
Led by Sageview Capital, with participation from VMG Catalyst and previous investors Pritzker Venture Capital Group, Okapi Venture Capital, Fika Ventures, and Mucker Capital, the round of funding will enable the company to double its headcount by early 2022 and expand operations globally as the leader in Specification Management software.
