Altas Partners, a private equity investment firm that makes long term investments of between $400 million and over $1 billion in typically just one or two deals per year, has closed its third fund with capital commitments of $4 billion, according to a report by Buyouts Insider.
Cathay Capital Private Equity has held the final close of its fourth Small Cap fund, which will invest in growth companies  across Europe, North America and Asia, at €240 million, bringing the firm’s total assets under management to over €5 billion. Small Cap IV is the first of Cathay Capital’s private equity funds to be designated as Article 8[1], joining the firm’s latest venture capital fund (Cathay Innovation) and healthcare fund (Cathay Health).  A smart of the designation, the fund’s investment team will apply exclusion filters during the selection process, and also set and track tailored objectives for portfolio companies
HSBC Asset Management has held the final closing of its third directly-managed secondaries fund, Private Equity Opportunities III, which launched in December 2022, with total commitments of around $738 million, bringing total commitments across HSBC AM’s secondaries program to a combined $3.2 billion.
Fidelio Capital has closed its third flagship fund (Fidelio III), with total capital commitments in excess of the fund’s €1 billion target, more than triple the size of its predecessor fund, Fidelio II, which closed in 2018. 
Vertex Ventures HC has launched its third and largest fund, the $200 million Fund III, which will be deployed to support life sciences and medical technology companies “aiming to drive innovation and improve patient outcomes”.
Buyout funds continued to display resilient performance during a turbulent Q1 of 2023, according to research by Neuberger Berman, with small and mid-cap buyout funds, the largest asset class in the sample, up approximately 3% on average over the quarter. 
IQ Capital, a London-based deep tech venture capital firm, continues to strengthen its senior team with the promotion of two new partners – Archie Muirhead and Alex Wilson, who join existing general partners Kerry Baldwin, Max Bautin, Simon Hirtzel and Ed Stacey.  
Chrysalix Venture Capital has held the first close of its fifth fund, the Carbon Neutrality Fund, which will invest in early-stage companies developing technologies to enable carbon neutrality for industries such as energy, mining, transport, chemicals, building materials like steel and cement, and forestry.

French group Ardian has raised more than $20 billion, including $6 billion from the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, for a new secondary fund that will target the acquisition of stakes in private equity funds from investors, according to a report by The Financial Times.
Oaktree Capital Management has held the close of its Life Sciences Lending Fund – its first dedicated life sciences fund – and related vehicles, oversubscribed with total capital commitments in excess of $2.3 billion.
