Independent management and investment firm, Wellington Management (Wellington), has announced the final close of the Wellington Biomedical Innovation Fund I (the Fund).
At the point of closure, the Fund was oversubscribed.
The Fund will invest in private biotechnology companies focused on drug discovery and development, and seeking capital to advance their scientific programmes[1] .
The close of the Fund expands Wellington’s private investment platform, which includes both healthcare and late-stage growth funds totalling USD2.7 billion. The Fund’s global investor base includes public and private pension plans, insurance companies, corporations and family offices.

Align Capital Partners’ (ACP) Fire and life safety platform, Protegis Fire and Safety (Protegis), has acquired Florida Fire Service (Florida Fire).
The Tampa-based company provides fire alarm, sprinkler and extinguisher inspection and repair services, along with service and installation. As a result of Protegis’ growth, Florida Fire now employs nearly 350 fire protection technicians across the country.

Mirova Natural Capital wholly owned by sustainable investment manager Mirova, an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers, has held the second close of the Althelia Sustainable Ocean Fund (SOF), a fund dedicated to making pioneering impact investments into marine and coastal projects and enterprises that can deliver sustainable economic returns in fisheries, aquaculture, associated seafood supply chains, ocean waste & recycling and marine conservation.

CentralNic has signed a conditional agreement to acquire Munich-based web services provider Team Internet from Matomy for a total of USD48 million.
CentralNic said it expects the acquisition to be immediately earnings enhancing and earnings accretive in 2020 before any synergies.
The acquisition will add an additional 40 staff in Germany, shifting CentralNic’s critical mass with almost 200 engineering and other staff members based there. All Team Internet management and staff will remain with the business following completion, with the three founders being retained on the supervisory board to guide the future growth of the business.
