Host Europe Group acquires domainfactory

Cinven portfolio comapany Host Europe Group has acquired domainfactory for an undisclosed consideration.

domainfactory currently manages 1.1 million domains and serves approximately 173,000 customers – mostly in the small and medium enterprises and private professional market segments.

This transaction follows the recent acquisition by Host Europe Group of Telefónica Germany Online Services, an enterprise managed hosting provider.

Thomas Vollrath, chief executive of Host Europe Group, says: “This is our second acquisition in recent months and is consistent with our strategy of consolidating a highly fragmented hosting market in Europe. Under the leadership of the two founders – Sara Marburg and Jochen Tuchbreiter – domainfactory has enjoyed good growth and developed a strong reputation for high quality service and customer care which makes it a perfect fit with Host Europe Group. We intend to invest to ensure that the Host Europe Group can deliver all the broad range of online services to meet the needs of a modern-day business.”

This acquisition further enhances Host Europe Group’s presence and capabilities in the German mass hosting market – having now almost 400,000 customers and managing in excess of two million domains.

Sara Marburg and Jochen Tuchbreiter, founders of domainfactory, say: “Together with our first class team we have established a leading German hosting company. By joining forces with Host Europe we will be perfectly positioned to benefit from the continued strong market growth. There is a great strategic and cultural fit between Host Europe Group and domainfactory. Together, we can provide a broader range of solutions for the benefit of our customers. We are very happy that domainfactory is now part of the Host Europe Group.”

Completion of the transaction is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
