Associated Capital Group (AC) is to launch Gabelli Private Equity Partners (GPEP), a new private equity investment management business focused on leveraged buyouts and restructuring of small and mid-sized companies.
GPEP will be funded with up to USD150 million of the Company’s capital.
“GPEP is a logical extension of Gabelli’s investment platform based on our 40 year history of valuing companies on a private market value basis. As further background, in the mid-80’s, we launched a private equity fund, Gabelli-Rosenthal, which had in excess of USD300 million of capital (in today’s dollars).”

A Canadian producer of healthy, gluten free and organic pasta, Chickapea Pasta, has secured an investment from District Ventures Capital, the Venture Capital fund established by Canadian Dragon’s Den star Arlene Dickinson.

Cloudreach, a company majority owned by Blackstone Tactical Opportunities, has acquired a majority stake in Philadelphia-based cloud computing analytics and migration automation leader Cloudamize. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Viscolube, a portfolio company of Stirling Square Capital Partners’ Third Fund, has acquired Bitolea Holding from Clessidra Capital Partners II (Clessidra).
Viscolube is the Italian leader in the used motor oil recycling sector, and a growing player in the hazardous waste collection and treatment sector in Italy. It operates two chemical plants which process over 170 thousand tonnes of used lubricant oil annually and an industrial waste collection network managing more than 140 thousand tonnes for more than 12,000 customers.

Alfatherm has sold its self-adhesive tape substrate business to Tekni-Plex.
The self-adhesive tape substrate business will be integrated into Tekni-Films Gallazzi, Tekni-Plex’s operation located in Gallarate (VA), Italy.
Marino Uberti, CEO of Alfatherm, says: “The divestiture of the adhesive tape substrate business is part of a broader strategic review. We will focus our growth on Alfatherm’s core sectors such as surface decoration, capsules and sleeves and films for the graphic art segment.”
