Union Investment has successfully completed the subscription phase of the private equity fund of funds PE-Invest 3. EUR 312 million has been raised in the last three months from institutional investors to be invested in unlisted companies. PE Invest 3 will invest globally in private equity funds and add secondaries and direct investments for diversification and return purposes. The fund will focus on private equity funds specialising in small and mid-caps in the US and Europe. It will also invest in Asian companies, venture capital, and turnaround equity stories. APS Delta, part of the group of APS Holding a.s. companies (APS), has acquired a portfolio of non-performing loans (NPLs) with the total gross balance sheet exposure of EUR 448 million as of 30 April 2017. The portfolio has been acquired from Zagrebačka Banka following authorisation by the Croatian National Bank.   The acquisition includes secured and unsecured corporate and retail loans. The largest volume consists of corporate distressed debts followed by retail unsecured and secured distressed debts. The acquisitions add to APS’s existing credit funds under advisement, which include 77 NPL portfolios with a total nominal value exceeding EUR5.1

Sun Hung Kai Financial (SHKF) announced it has closed on its acquisition of 100 per cent of UK specialist brokerage and research firm North Square Blue Oak Limited (NSBO), following strategic cooperation between the two parties that started in early 2016 and with approval from UK regulators. Subsequently, NSBO has been renamed Sun Hung Kai Financial (UK) (SHKF (UK)). Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) is to acquire HD Supply Holding’s Waterworks business unit (Waterworks), a distributor of water, sewer, storm and fire protection products, for USD2.5 billion. Through a carve-out transaction, Waterworks will become an independent company, wholly-owned by CD&R funds.   Waterworks is a leading US distributor of industrial and construction products used to build and maintain underground water, wastewater and drainage infrastructure networks. Dentons has advised private equity investor Rutland Partners (Rutland) on its recent pound investment in Aston Barclay, the independent car auction group which provides vehicle remarketing services to fleet and dealership vendors.  Aston Barclay, which currently operates from four sites in the UK, has invested heavily in recent years in both its auction sites and IT systems.  Rutland’s investment will be used to develop a new auction site at Donington Park in the Midlands, as well as to make further investment in its IT technology and staff.    The management buyout was overseen by Neil Hodson, formerly of HPI and
