Illumina Ventures, an independently-managed, healthcare-focused venture firm, has closed its second investment fund with total commitments of USD325 million, bringing its total capital under management to USD560 million.
The latest fund is anchored by Illumina, Inc (Nasdaq: ILMN), with the majority of the total committed capital from other strategic and financial investors, including the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF). The fund will support early-stage companies that are pioneering breakthroughs in life science tools, clinical diagnostics, therapeutics platforms, digital health, and other applications of genomics.

Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), a global investment group, is to acquire a significant stake in ICR, a specialist in strategic communications and advisory services.

Blackstone’s wholly-owned portfolio company Transmission Developers Inc (TDI), has been selected by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), as part of an extensive RFP process, to deliver clean, renewable power to New York City.

Software platform, Hicomply, has secured a GBP3 million investment from growth capital investor, BGF.
The technology business enables SMEs to protect business data and effectively manage information security compliance against standards such as ISO 27001 and SOC. Hicomply gives companies the tools to build their information security management system (ISMS), which secures data and reduces risk in the supply chain and the threat of data breaches and associated fines.
The funding will allow the business to accelerate growth through investment in sales and marketing, as well as continuing to develop its technology.

Audax Private Equity (Audax) has acquired a majority stake in GCX Mounting Solutions. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Based in Petaluma, California, GCX is special in the design and manufacturing of healthcare-focused, mission-critical equipment mounting and mobility solutions, including branded-arms, mounts, and roll stands. Products are engineered for reliability and quality and sold to medical device OEMs and directly to hospitals. White Oak Global Advisors (White Oak) has completed the acquisition of Finacity Corporation, a global specialist in working capital and trade finance funding solutions to global businesses.
Finacity originates, structures and places over USD100 billion in trade finance receivables yearly with over 50 leading financial institutions in asset-backed security structures. Finacity has facilitated transactions for receivables denominated in 58 currencies with obligors in more than 175 countries making it the largest non-bank trade finance platform globally.
The deal will see Adrian Katz remain as Finacity CEO and substantive equity holder, working closely with the leadership of White Oak Global Advisors.
