The last 16 months have provided every aspect of society with an unprecedented challenge, yet Europe’s venture capitalists are fuelling a red-hot market that looks to be anything but challenged.  While the startup market is booming globally, Europe’s scene of private startup investment deserves close attention for the particularly astounding rate at which innovation is accelerating. According to Dealroom’s latest report, Europe is the fastest growing major region by venture capital investment – outpacing both the US and China –  with investment in European startups having grown by 2.9x YoY to EUR49 billion in the first six months of 2021 alone.
HIG Capital (HIG) has sold portfolio company US Medical Supply (US MED to Advanced Diabetes Supply (ADS), a portfolio company of Court Square Capital Partners Inc. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. US MED is among the largest and fastest growing direct-to-consumer specialty distributors of Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) and medical supplies in the nation. Growthdeck has exited its investment in electric vehicle developer Saietta Group via an IPO on London’s Alternative Investment Market, delivering up to 22x valuation to Growthdeck’s early stage EIS investors. The AIM IPO, which took place on Wednesday, 7 July, raised GBP37.5 million of new investment, and gave Saietta Group a market capitalisation of cGBP105 million. The IPO will allow the group to establish a motor durability testing facility and expand European production capacity to 100,000 motors per year. Maven Capital Partners (Maven), the debt fund manager for the Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF), has been approved by the British Business Bank as a new accredited lender to provide loans through the Government’s Recovery Loan Scheme (RLS).
