Marwyn appoints sector acquisitions specialist

Marwyn, an alternative asset manager, has appointed Glynn Thomas to lead the origination and execution of acquisitions in the support services sector.

Thomas joins from VT Group, the defence, engineering and support services company, where he was group corporate development director for the corporate head office.

Since joining VT Group in 2001, Thomas has been pivotal in the transformation and diversification of VT Group from shipbuilding into a support services business that has more than trebled its revenue and market capital growth.

Thomas qualified as a chartered accountant with PwC in London before joining the strategy team at Marks and Spencer where he was responsible for helping reposition the struggling food retailing business.

He joined KPMG Corporate Finance in 1998 where he spent four years working on all aspects of mergers & acquisitions, including sell side mandates, major acquisitions on behalf of KPMG’s clients and advising on the construction of numerous joint ventures.

Mark Watts (pictured), managing partner, says: “Marwyn is a hands-on investor that creates value by providing the management of its quoted portfolio companies with the highest level of operational and advisory support. Glynn brings with him the level of experience that is vital to our development.”
