Milad will be responsible for originating and evaluating new investments and managing portfolio investments.
Milad joins NBGI from Insight Capital & Advisory, which is an advisory practice he founded in 2005 to provide finance, strategy and M&A advisory services to life sciences companies and investors. His previous roles include special adviser to Atlas Venture, interim chief financial officer and head of business development at Nitec Pharma, and associate director of healthcare corporate finance at Nomura International.
Milad started his career in 1994 as an investment banker at Lehman Brothers in New York, followed by almost three years at Kirkland Investors, a boutique private equity investment fund.
Aris Constantinides, head of NBGI Ventures, says: ‘I am very pleased to welcome John to the team. His wealth of expertise in corporate finance, private equity and venture capital and detailed knowledge of the European medical technology space will be invaluable to our continued success and growth.’
Milad adds: ‘NBGI is uniquely positioned as the one of the very few European venture funds dedicated to the medical technology sector. I was very impressed by the fund’s track record and I’m delighted to be joining this talented and experienced team.’
NBGI Ventures has also announced an update on its recent activities, including the closing of a follow-on round of financing for SuperSonic Imagine with the addition of Wellington Partners and IRDI (bringing the total Series B round to EUR26m), the formation of a joint venture between its portfolio company 2010 Perfect Vision and Bausch & Lomb and the launch of its new website.
