MMC appoints Simon Menashy

MMC Ventures (MMC), the growth company investor, has appointed Simon Menashy to its investment team. MMC’s investment professionals manage funds of GBP80 million and a portfolio of thirteen companies. The current portfolio includes AlexandAlexa, E-Trader, Interactive Investor and iiPay.

Menashy joins from Deloitte, where he was a senior consultant in the TMT Strategy practice. Simon advised major telecoms and media clients across Europe including the BBC, BT, Thomson Reuters and several cable operators.

Menashy graduated in Physics and Space Research from the University of Birmingham, where he continued as a postgraduate at the Business School. He was also a student entrepreneur, raising seed funding for a small IT venture.

Menashy says: “MMC invests in businesses that operate in high growth sectors and works with them actively to accelerate growth and provide returns to its investors. In joining the MMC team, I have the opportunity to combine my interest in the dynamic TMT sector with my own experience as a venture-backed student entrepreneur. I am looking forward to working with our current range of fast-growing entrepreneurial companies and to finding the market-leading companies of tomorrow.”

Jon Coker (pictured), Investment Director, says: “Simon joins our team at an exciting moment. We are actively investing and have a strong pipeline of new opportunities. We are also working closely with our portfolio of dynamic companies which are demonstrating impressive growth. “

MMC has a strong track record and was named ‘EIS Fund Manager of the Year’ by the EISA in 2009. Investments are made on strict commercial merits whilst retaining substantial tax advantages for UK tax-resident investors under the EIS Scheme. MMC currently has £80 million under management – through a combination of managed funds and a syndicate of experienced private investors – and invests GBP8-10 million each year in a range of new deals and follow-on funding.
