Mainsail Partners, a growth equity firm that seeks to invest in rapidly growing, bootstrapped software companies, has raised $915 million in limited partner capital commitments for its sixth fund, the largest in the firm’s 19-year history. The new fund, Mainsail Partners VI, was oversubscribed and closed in less than three months, bringing the total capital commitments raised by the firm to more than $2.2 billion. Mainsail seeks to continue its strategy of targeting $30 million to $60 million investments in rapidly growing, founder-led software companies and providing significant operational support to help them scale.
Husqvarna Group has invested $7.5m of venture capital into Moleaer, a specialist in nanobubble technology. Moleaer designs and manufactures industrial scale nanobubble systems that deliver extraordinary improvements in sustainable food production, chemical free water treatment and the recovery of natural resources. Moleaer is the seventh investment for Husqvarna Group’s venture capital fund. By investing in Moleaer, Husqvarna Group’s Gardena Division will be able to explore nanobubble technology’s potential in addressing water scarcity.
Orion Advisor Solutions, a provider of transformative wealthtech solutions for fiduciary advisors backed by private equity investors FGenstar and TA Capital, is to acquire Redtail Technology, a web-based client relationship management (CRM) software firm serving the wealth management industry. Post-close, Redtail co-founder and CEO Brian McLaughlin will become Orion’s President of CRM reporting to Orion CEO Eric Clarke. At that time, McLaughlin will join both Orion’s executive team and its Board of Directors. ThreatLocker, a global cybersecurity leader that offers a Zero Trust endpoint security solution, has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round led by global growth equity firm General Atlantic. Existing investors Elephant VC and Arthur Ventures also participated in the round.  With the new investment, ThreatLocker will focus on accelerating product innovation to bring the power of Zero Trust security to more organisations, hiring top talent and accelerating the company’s global expansion.
FundGuard, an AI-powered SaaS investment management and asset servicing enterprise platform, has closed a $40 million Series B funding round.
Technology venture Dolby Family Ventures has invested in Sharrow Engineering LLC, a specialist in propeller technology. This new commitment will be used to advance Sharrow Engineering’s efforts to rapidly deliver a more efficient propeller technology to boat motors and, ultimately, other propeller-driven systems. Sharrow Engineering launched its first subsidiary company, Sharrow Marine LLC in 2020 and won the coveted 2020 Miami International Boat Show Innovation Award. Distributed Ventures, a Seed to Series B venture fund, is leading Armadillo’s $3.5 million Seed round. Armadillo is a tech-driven home warranty company whose digital platform provides affordable, subscription-based protection for home appliances and systems when they break down. The investment aligns with Distributed Ventures’ focus on companies transforming the future of risk across Fintech, Insurtech and Digital Health and Benefits.
Copley Equity Partners, a private investment firm focused on providing capital and resources to middle market companies with strong growth opportunities, has invested in AuctionIQ (AIQ), technology-enabled cost management and profitability. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. The investment by Copley will enable AIQ to accelerate its growth and continue to invest in both processes and people. Copley also brings a track record of assisting similar companies build out the functional areas necessary to scale a technology enabled services business.
Volvo Cars, through the Volvo Cars Tech Fund, has made a strategic investment in StoreDot, a specialist in extreme fast charging technologies for electric vehicles. StoreDot is on track to begin mass producing its ‘100in5’ cells as early as 2024, achieving 100 miles of charge in just five minutes. Patriot Pickle, a Swander Pace Capital portfolio company that manufactures and distributes fresh, high-quality pickles across the United States to restaurant chains, supermarkets, and delis, has acquired the pickle assets of Farm Ridge Foods. Farm Ridge Foods distributes pickled products into the retail channel under its own name, as well as private label and third-party brands.
