C Street has appointed Bre Pressey and Dr Thomas Ogorzalek as Co-Heads of the firm’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Advisory practice. Together, Pressey and Ogorzalek will lead the group at C Street advising clients on how to best invest in DEI and make DEI systemic in their organisations.
The British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) has appointed Charlie Troup as chair of its council for the next year up to 31 March 2023. Troup brings to the role nearly 30 years’ experience in private equity, having supported businesses of all sizes and at all stages of growth. Blue Wolf Capital Partners (Blue Wolf), a New York-based private equity firm, has closed Blue Wolf Capital Fund V at its hard cap of USD1.1 billion. The fund was oversubscribed with strong support from existing investors along with a diverse base of new partners, including pension funds, endowments, foundations, fund-of-funds, family offices and consultants. The Fund will continue Blue Wolf’s investment strategy by targeting investments in middle market companies across its healthcare and industrial sectors. BGF has exited its investment in Virtual1, a London-based cloud and connectivity service provider, which it backed in 2017 with a GBP10 million investment, via a sale to TalkTalk Group. TalkTalk Group provides fibre, broadband, TV and landline services to over four million UK customers, and operates Britain’s biggest unbundled broadband network, covering 96 per cent of the population.    Virtual1 is a provider of B2B connectivity to businesses around the UK. It delivers cloud and connectivity services exclusively to the wholesale market, aggregating its own cutting-edge London-based network with networks from other carriers onto a single scalable platform.   
European blockchain start-up Nous Systems has launched a seven-figure seed fund raise based on a EUR30 million valuation as it develops the world’s first decentralised investment platform, which will be launched later this year, allowing investors access to automated asset management services. Spirant Group has secured GBP9.5 million in funding from the alternative lender BOOST&Co to support the business in its international expansion and ongoing growth. CVC Capital Partners VIII (CVC Fund VIII), has invested in Radwell International (Radwell), a global distributor of new and surplus industrial automation components. CVC Fund VIII is acquiring an interest in the company from founder & CEO Brian Radwell and Greenbriar Equity Group (Greenbriar), both of whom will remain significant shareholders going forward. Financial terms of the private transaction have not been disclosed. Founded in 1979, Radwell is a leading specialty distribution and light manufacturing business that provides new and refurbished industrial automation components for the repair and maintenance of production and processing equipment on plant floors.  The investment from
OrthoBethesda, a physician-led and majority physician-owned provider of orthopaedic services to the greater Washington, DC region and a portfolio company of Atlantic Street Capital, has formed a strategic partnership with Shady Grove Orthopaedics (Shady Grove), its 2nd announced transaction of 2022. In January, OrthoBethesda partnered with Washington Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine (WOSM) to create the region’s leading multi-subspeciality orthopaedic platform. Concurrent with closing of this transaction, the platform is rebranding to Aligned Orthopedic Partners (Aligned Ortho).
Atwater Capital (Atwater), a media and entertainment-focused alternative investment firm, has appointed Carol Lim as Principal.
GovExec, an information and intent-based marketing platform for government leaders and contractors, has acquired Power Almanac, an actionable business intelligence application housing data and insights on US local government decision-makers. The deal was completed with financial support from mid-market private equity firm Growth Catalyst Partners (GCP). GovExec initially made a strategic investment in Power Almanac in June 2021 with the ability to increase its investment over time. Given the powerful potential to combine Power Almanac with GovExec’s state and local platform, the company has decided to acquire the intelligence data provider.  The financial terms of the investment have not been
