Vista Equity has secured a commitment of USD260 million for its next flagship fund from the Oregon Investment Council, according to a report by BuyoutInsider. The private equity firm, which has been under the spotlight since boss Robert Smith, admitted to tax fraud in 2020, is said to targeting USD18-20 billion forth fund, with a first close executed in April. Vista’s last fund – Fund VII – closed in 2019 with capital commitments totalling USD16 billion.

Markd, a new insurtech VC firm, has closed its USD100 million debut fund which will fund early- and growth-stage startups with the potential to propel the digital transformation of the insurance industry. Anchor investors in Fund 1 include Markd founder and managing partner Parker Beauchamp and an undisclosed industry partner. 
Causal, a collaborative platform for financial modelling, has raised a USD20 million Series A funding round led by Coatue and Accel. The investment round — which follows a USD4.2 million seed round in March — also included a number of high-profile angel investors including Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelman, FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, Notion COO Akshay Kothari and Brex CRO Sam Blond. Existing investors include AngelList co-founder Naval Ravikant and Adobe CPO Scott Belsky. Unleash, the largest open source feature management platform, has raised USD14 million in a Series A round led by Spark Capital. Frontline Ventures, firstminute capital, Alliance Venture, and Arkwright X also participated in the round. Pamplona Capital Management (Pamplona) has now defined the path for terminating LetterOne’s participation as a limited partner investor in funds managed by Pamplona. Pamplona has taken the decision to liquidate every fund where LetterOne – its only Russia-linked investor – has any interest. Middle-market private equity firm GHK Capital Partners (GHK) has held the final closing of GHK Fund I with USD410 million in aggregate capital commitments, exceeding its initial target of USD350 million and surpassing its hard cap of USD400 million. This is the first private equity fund raised by GHK, which targets control investments in performing middle-market industrial companies across North America. GHK was founded in 2018 by Gilbert H. Klemann following a seventeen-year career at Goldman Sachs where he led control private equity investments across various North American end-markets.
