Piglet, a British direct-to-consumer homeware brand behind a successful range of high-quality and low-maintenance linen products and other “soft home” goods, has raised USD8.5 million (GBP6 million) in a funding round led by Active Partners, a consumer-focused investment firm.  The fresh funds, which are Piglet’s first outside capital, will be used to internationally scale the business, expand the brand’s product offering, and build out the Piglet team in the UK, Europe and North America. Stuart Grant, co-founder and chairman of leading British apparel brand Mint Velvet, will also be joining Piglet as Chairperson, bringing with him extensive experience and expertise
Moonfare, a digital investment platform for top-tier private markets funds, is launching a second vintage of its flagship Buyout Portfolio to build on the success of the portfolio franchise it launched in 2020.  Moonfare Buyout Portfolio I, a core part of Moonfare’s efforts to put top private equity funds within reach of individual investors, closed in May oversubscribed and performed strongly across key metrics. The fund raised a total of EUR70 million, 40 per cent above its original EUR50 million target.   Investor capital will flow to nine underlying funds focused on the buyout space. JP Morgan Asset Management has launched JP Morgan Private Capital, which includes a new growth equity investment arm and an existing private debt business, committed to providing customised solutions for early and growth stage companies across the capital structure.  The group will be focused on institutional and high-net-worth clients and will also have the ability to invest the firm’s capital alongside investors. Cerea Partners completed the first closing of its fourth Mezzanine fund at the end of April. The Fund has reached more than 85 per cent of its target size, with an investment capacity of approximately EUR215 million exceeding the size of the third fund. Cerea relied on the loyalty of its historical LPs, but also on the trust of new French and European investors. This round is mainly made up of institutional investors (banks, insurance companies…) but also includes a number of family offices. Private equity (PE) firms spend millions annually with law firms to manage high-end legal matters such as fundraising, merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions and litigation – but not all private capital firms are effective at managing those costs.  That’s according to a new report by Apperio titled, Scale vs agility in private equity: Mid-sized PE firms are edging out their larger competitors with better management of legal expenses. Curb, a Nordic dark kitchen startup which uses technology and data in order to improve customer experience, has secured EUR20 million in funding by Point72 Ventures, with participation from its existing investor EQT Ventures. 
Private equity house YFM Equity Partners (YFM), which has offices in London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester, has promoted Adam Hart to investment director.  Having joined YFM as an investment manager in 2018, Hart has been involved in making seven new investments including leading the growth capital investment into Outpost earlier this year.  In the last 12 months Adam has also worked on the GBP7 million primary buyout of loss adjustor and claims management specialist GHG and represents YFM on the board of Sharpcloud.  Prior to joining YFM, Hart spent three years in an SME-focused corporate finance role, advising management teams
