European software investor Hg’s Saturn team and its investors have agreed to a further majority investment in software company Visma, valued at USD12.2 billion in the world’s largest ever software buyout. The Hg Saturn 2 Fund will purchase the stake from Montagu, a European private equity firm which has been an investor in the business since 2010, and other investors including Hg’s Genesis 7 Fund which will reduce its holding in Visma. Funding for UK cybersecurity start-ups has increased by a staggering 940 per cent since the beginning of lockdown – with GBP496 million being raised in the first half of 2020, almost outstripping the 2019 total of GBP521 million.
Private equity group Innova Capital is to sell its 100 per stake in Trimo, a leading European producer of high quality façade and building envelope solutions, to Kingspan Group.  The parties have not disclosed the terms of the transaction.  Completion remains subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to take place during the fourth quarter of 2020.   “Not only were we able to achieve a very good return, but we have successfully transformed the company from a local champion into a truly international player,” says Andrzej Bartos, Senior Partner, who led the transaction for Innova.

HSBC Global Asset Management has closed its HSBC Vision Private Equity 2020 Fund at just over USD260 million. Investors  in the fund, which will invest in a number of private equity opportunities from primaries and secondaries to direct co-investments, include HSBC Private Banking and HSBC Global AM’s institutional clients.   The HSBC Vision Private Equity 2020 Fund is a continuation of last year’s programme, which raised 250 million globally.
