Dunedin, a UK mid-market private equity house, has expanded its team by hiring Claire Blackhall and James Morrison into its dedicated Research and Direct Origination Team. This new team provides the wider investment team with pre-qualified target companies to approach, as well as the co-ordination of valuable sector and corporate knowledge.
Blackhall, who joined in September 2019 as Associate, was previously a Manager in the KPMG Private Equity Group in London, working on a variety of M&A transactions. James Morrison, Junior Analyst, joined in November from business change consultancy Voyager Solutions where he was involved in data analysis.

BGF has successfully exited its investment in fast-growth web hosting company, Miss Group, as financial backing has been secured from private equity investor Perwyn.Miss Group, which offers services including web hosting, domain registration and VPS to SMEs, received an initial GBP6.4 million from BGF in August 2018. This was followed by a further GBP13 million investment to accelerate its international expansion strategy in 2019.

Blackstone Infrastructure Partners (BIP) has appointed Jonathan “Jon“ Kelly, formerly Managing Partner and Head of Europe for Brookfield Infrastructure, as a Senior Managing Director and Head of European Infrastructure. Private equity investors completed 807 deals in Q4 2019, slightly down on the previous quarter, but still the second highest in the last decade, according to the Q4 2019 Unquote Private Equity Barometer, produced in association with Aberdeen Standard Investments.A substantial amount of capital was deployed in the last three months of the year, with quarterly deal value posting its third highest figure of the last decade at EUR67.6 billion.
On the back of three exceptionally strong quarters in succession, private equity activity in 2019 broke new ground, with total deal volume and value reaching all-time annual records.

European private equity investment firm Oakley Capital is to sell a majority stake in atHome Group, a Luxembourg-based online classifieds and mortgage broking business, to Mayfair Equity Partners.
Emerging market investor Actis and Westmont Hospitality Group have acquired the Sheraton Casablanca hotel in Morocco.
The 309-key Sheraton Casablanca, which was built in 1989 and is located in the heart of the city near the Old Medina and harbour, is the largest internationally branded hotel in Casablanca. Actis and Westmont will implement a comprehensive business plan which includes a full refurbishment, said the GP.
