US private equity firm Horizon Capital’s latest USD200 million fund, Emerging Europe Growth Fund III (EEGF III), has acquired a minority stake in the Ajax Systems, a producer of smart security systems in Ukraine for USD10 million.
EEGF III’s investment was made through the purchase of a portion of the shares held by SMRK, an early-stage financial investor in Ajax Systems, and a portion of the shares held by Company management.

HarbourVest Partners, a global private markets asset manager, has opened a new office in Dublin, Ireland.

Private equity firms are continuing to invest in the UK, despite the uncertainty created by the Brexit process, according to a new report from eFront, a financial software and solutions provider dedicated to Alternative Investments.
eFront’s research showed that capital commitments have continued strongly since the Brexit vote in mid-2016, with deployment becoming more stable from 2016 onwards, compared with the trend seen over the previous three years. The average quarterly growth of capital deployment from Q1 2016 to Q4 2018 stood at 0.98 per cent, compared with 0.68 per cent from Q1 2013 to Q4 2015.

Mid-market investor Ergon has held the final closing of Ergon Capital Partners IV, SCSP (ECP IV) with capital commitments in excess of EUR580 million.

Private equity firm the Riverside Company has promoted Karsten Langer to Managing Partner for the Riverside Europe Fund (REF).
Langer will lead the management of 30 professionals across Europe as Riverside continues to look for internationally growing entrepreneurial companies.
