OpenGamma, a specialist in derivatives analytics, has raised USD10 million in funding led by early-stage fintech and B2B software venture capital firm Dawn.  The funding round includes participation from existing investors Accel, CME Ventures and ex-SunGuard CEO and prolific fintech angel investor Cristóbal Conde.   OpenGamma’s analytics solutions allow the world’s banks, hedge funds and asset managers to dramatically reduce the cost of trading derivatives. Last week proved to be the biggest yet for VCT funding this tax year, with GBP46.4m being raised. Octopus Titan and ProVen took the bulk of this amount. Total VCT fundraising for 2018/19 amounts to GBP608.5 million so far, with GBP386.5 million raised in 2019 alone. RIO Investment Partners (RIO) is pleased to announce the launch of a new venture capital fund focused on Agri-Food investing across the North American ag-tech and food-tech value chain.  RIO invests in growth stage companies operating in the various segments of the agri-food tech continuum and seeking capital of USD3 to USD10 million to catalyse their expansion strategies. A Leg To Stand On’s (ALTSO) 2nd Annual Rocktoberfest concert in London will take place on 19 June 2019. Members of the hedge fund and private equity communities will come together for a night of live rock & roll entertainment, with the aim of raising money to provide free orthopaedic care for children. The line-up will feature bands whose performers are moonlighting from their day-jobs in high finance, with previous acts coming from those including Apple, Société Générale, PAAMCO, Simmons & Simmons, Lombard Odier, and Albourne.  
There’s plenty of appetite among investors to consider the next generation of PE managers, some of whom are spinning out of existing shops with bags of experience but little chance of making partner because of a lack of succession planning.  This new wave of talent faces a significant challenge, naturally, when competing with multi-year, multi-billion dollar PE groups, but provided they put a solid team together, and perhaps test the market with a few co-investment deals to demonstrate their skill (outside of their previous role), there is no reason why new management groups can’t succeed.  Part of the success of
