Rothschild & Co has completed the final closing of Five Arrows Principal Investments III (FAPI III), its third European corporate private equity vehicle. This is the 15th fund raised above its expected target by Rothschild & Co over the last 10 years, which brings the total assets under management in the Merchant Banking business to approximately EUR11 billion across four strategies: corporate private equity; senior and junior credit; primary and secondary fund investing; and co-investments.   The Fund was oversubscribed and reached its hard cap with total capital commitments of EUR1.25 billion. Ardenton Capital Corporation has acquired a majority equity position in Manchester-based Budget Trading Ltd and its Dublin-based sister company Budget Greeting Cards Limited (collectively BGC). Founded in 1984, BGC designs and sells greetings cards and gift wrap, as well as other stationery and celebratory products to SME businesses. It operates eight cash and carry warehouses in the UK and Ireland, employing 180 staff. Foresight Group has made a GBP249,000 investment into usheru Limited (usheru), the firm behind a pioneering technology platform operating in the GBP50 billion film distribution market. The investment from Foresight, using finance from the Midlands Engine Investment Fund, has been made alongside GBP224,000 from Enterprise Ireland, taking the total package to GBP473,000, and allowing the firm to relocate its head office to Milton Keynes. Bertram Nursery Group, one of the UK’s largest children’s nursery groups, has been acquired by its management team in a transaction funded by Apiary Capital and Santander. Bertram was founded in 2001 by Graeme Scott and Tom Lyons with the opening of the Strawberry Hill nursery in Edinburgh. Growth equity firm General Atlantic has appointed Loek van den Boog, former Chairman of Mendix and Myriad, as a Special Advisor and Chairman of General Atlantic Netherlands. Van den Boog returns to the firm having previously supported the firm as Special Advisor between 1996 and 2004. During his prior tenure at General Atlantic, he served on a number of portfolio company boards, including Global Collect and Patni Computer Systems. Upon his return, he is expected to leverage his software and technology expertise and expansive network to provide strategic support and advice to the firm’s investment teams and portfolio companies.  
Funds affiliated with Blackstone Infrastructure Partners (BIP), have made a growth-oriented investment in Carrix, one of the largest marine terminal operators in the US and in the Americas. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.   Carrix is the parent company of SSA Marine and its related affiliates, with combined operations at over 250 port and rail locations worldwide, including 16 container terminals in Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle and Tacoma, Panama, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Vietnam.   “We are pleased that BIP has invested in Carrix and will be working with us to continue our on-going growth and development,”
One Equity Partners (OEP), a middle market private equity firm, has completed the sale of Resolute Industrial Holdings (Resolute), an independent provider of York-brand chilling products, compressor remanufacturing, refrigerant storage, and other heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) equipment services. The sale marks the first exit from the firm’s USD1.65 Billion Fund VI, which was also the first fund raised with outside capital after OEP spun out of JP Morgan.
