Pomona Capital, a global private equity firm specialising in secondaries investing, has held the final close of its ninth secondaries flagship fund, Pomona Capital IX. The fund was oversubscribed and capped at USD1.8 billion.
Limited partners in the Fund include pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, and family offices from nearly 20 countries. Strong support from existing investors was complemented by a significant number of new investors from across the globe.

Investment manager Neuberger Berman has appointed Alberto Salato to the newly created role of Head of Southern Europe, effective immediately.
Based in Milan, Salato (pictured), will oversee client coverage across Iberia and Italy, reporting to Dik van Lomwel, Head of EMEA and LatAm.
Salato joins from Blackrock Investment Management, where he was Managing Director and Head of Institutional for the Italian business for over a decade. Prior to that, he was with Franklin Templeton Investments, having begun his career with JP Morgan Private Banking in Milan.

Clyde Blowers Capital (CBC) has completed the sale of precision motion control expert, Cone Drive, to The Timken Company.
Since acquiring Cone Drive in 2012, CBC has repositioned Cone Drive from an industrial gearing company, operating largely out of North America, to a leader in precision motion control technology with operations on three continents. The successful acquisition of H-Fang, based in Jiangyin, China, in 2014 represented a key milestone in achieving this geographic expansion of the business.

Clayton, Dubilier & Rice has appointed Micaela Bulich, former Vice President Global Supply Chain for GE Renewable Energy’s USD8 billion onshore wind business, as an Operating Advisor to CD&R funds.
Bulich has more than 30 years’ experience as a strategy and execution leader of supply chain organisations in large, global, complex businesses. Most recently, Bulich served as VP Global Supply Chain for GE Renewable Energy’s Onshore Wind business, where her responsibilities included supply chain strategy, sourcing and global procurement, planning, manufacturing, logistics, and environmental health and safety. Chicago-based private equity firm CORE Industrial Partners (CORE), has acquired Midwest Composite Technologies (MCT), a manufacturer of prototype and low-volume production components.
Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Founded in 1984, MCT offers 3D prototyping and low-volume production services through a fleet of over 40 additive manufacturing machines, including in-house selection laser sintering (SLS), direct metal laser sintering (“DMLS”), polyjet printing (PJET), stereolithography (SLA), fused deposition modelling (FDM) and multi jet fusion (MFJ) technologies.

Ropes & Gray has advised UK private equity firm Epiris on Epiris Fund II’s acquisition of Bonhams, the global auction house, from private shareholders.
The deal, announced today, is the fourth investment of the Epiris Fund II. Bonhams is one of the world’s largest and most renowned auctioneers of fine art and antiques, motor cars and jewellery. The business holds more than 250 sales a year at its flagship salerooms, which include London, New York, Los Angeles and Hong Kong. In 2017, Bonhams sold more than 60,000 lots, generating over GBP450 million of hammer sales.

Jorge Fernández Miret has been promoted to partner of Sherpa Capital, a Spanish private equity firm focused on investments in medium-sized companies that face new strategic challenges.
Fernández Miret joined Sherpa Capital in 2012 as an investment director, a role in which he led a large number of investments and divestments. He is a board member in several portfolio companies of Sherpa Capital, such as Dogi International Fabrics, Hedonai and Macrolibros.

Private equity firm Silverfleet Capital has added to its investment team with the appointment of a Co-Head of Lower Mid-Market Investing and a Co-Head of the Benelux region based in Amsterdam.
Alex Brebbia has joined Silverfleet as a partner based in London. Alongside David MacKenzie, he co-heads Silverfleet’s investment activities in the lower mid-market, targeting businesses with enterprise values between EUR25 million and EUR75 million.
Brebbia has a long and successful track record of investing in smaller buyouts and was latterly a Managing Partner at Spring Ventures, prior to which he was the Co-Head of Barclays Ventures. Alex started
Prestige has appointed Rassul Azizi as Credit Director covering its UK operations Prestige Asset Management, and international operations Prestige Capital Management and Prestige Fund Management.
Azizi will also be working across Prestige’s two main finance businesses Privilege and Nucleus providing the important oversight required for a large and active portfolio of lending operations (which, between them, have provided almost GBP2 billion pounds of funding to UK small businesses since they were established).
Azizi joins Prestige from EFG Private Bank in the UK, where he was part of the bank’s credit approval team, structuring credit-based solutions and analysing credit requests.
