Investec Growth & Acquisition Finance has supported the acquisition of SafeChem Europe by CBPE Capital, a London-based mid-market private equity investor. Investec provided EUR20 million of senior secured debt as well as a EUR2 million revolving credit facility to support the management team and the company’s growth.   Founded in 1992, SafeChem Europe is a pan-European provider of services and products related to the safe and sustainable use of solvents for surface and dry cleaning. OST Energy, an independent engineering consultancy, has worked with international solar energy provider Wirsol Energy Limited and German bank BayernLB to provide technical due diligence and independent engineering support for two UK solar PV portfolios with a combined capacity of 107MW. OST has been engaged by Wirsol since August 2016 to deliver a full suite of pre-construction technical due diligence services, subsequent construction monitoring and take-over phase support for a portfolio of 10 ground mount PV assets totalling 61MW.   In addition, during the refinancing of this portfolio, which closed in January this year, OST acted on behalf of lender
GLAS, an independent provider of finance administration services, has opened an office in Sydney, coinciding with the key senior hire of lawyer Kate White. Catapult Ventures’ portfolio company Monica Healthcare, a specialist in foetal monitoring, has been acquired by GE Healthcare. The cash purchase will generate returns of 3.5x for the East Midlands Regional Venture Capital Fund, managed by Catapult Ventures.   Founded in 2005 as a spin out from the University of Nottingham, Catapult invested in Monica Healthcare at inception and has led every round of investment since. Jersey has introduced a new regulatory framework for private funds which the Jersey Financial Services Commission believes will enhance the island’s competitiveness as a jurisdiction in which to establish funds. The new Jersey Private Fund consolidates and streamlines Jersey’s private fund offering and will enable funds with up to 50 investors to take advantage of a fast-track authorisation process and lighter ongoing regulatory requirements.   It is designed to provide a more flexible and versatile framework which will further improve the speed and ease with which funds marketed to professional investors can be established. The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), a Russian sovereign wealth fund, is establishing the Russia-Armenia Investment Fund alongside the Armenian state-owned company SME Investments. Through the fund, the partners will jointly search for attractive investment opportunities that will strengthen trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.   The agreement was signed as part of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s official visit to Russia, which will include a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.   This opportunity has arisen following discussions between Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov and the Minister of Economic Development and
