Aquila Capital has increased its exposure to renewable energy in Scandinavia by agreeing a majority co-investment in Norway’s largest operational wind park, Midtfjellet. The project has an installed capacity of 110 MW and an extension permit of 40 MW.  The shares have been purchased from the Norwegian utility Energiselskapet Buskerud AS. The transaction underlines Aquila Capital’s strategy of acquiring renewable energy assets through cooperations with energy companies. Private equity firm Wellspring Capital Management's portfolio company ProAmpac has completed its previously announced acquisition of Coating Excellence International (CEI), a specialist in wide web extrusion coating and laminating of film, foil, paper, board and nonwovens.  Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. ProAmpac, formed by Wellspring through the recent merger of Prolamina Corporation and Ampac Packaging LLC, is a global flexible packaging company operating primarily under the Prolamina, Ampac and Tulsack brands. Dentsu Ventures Global Fund I, Dentsu Inc’s corporate venture capital fund, has made it first investment in Cue Inc, a US technology company that created Cue, an at-home device for tracking health information at the molecular level. Dentsu Ventures was established in April of this year with the objectives of investing in ambitious start-up companies that will create an as yet unseen future and furthering open innovation across the Dentsu Group through collaboration with investees. Annual global M&A volume surpassed USD5 trillion for the first time ever in 2015, according to data released by Dealogic. This record-setting volume breaks the previous record of USD4.6 trillion set in 2007, by 9 per cent. There were 10 USD50 billion+ M&A transactions announced in 2015 worth a combined USD798.9 billion. That's five deals more than the previous record high activity set in 1998, 1999, and 2014. US targeted M&A (USD2.5tr) accounts for half of 2015 volume and seven of the top 10 transactions. Graphite Capital has sold its fund investment business Graphite Enterprise Trust (GET), an investment company investing in private equity funds and private companies, to Intermediate Capital Group (ICG).  Graphite established GET in 1981, raising GBP23 million through a listing on the London Stock Exchange.   Over the past decade, GET’s focus has expanded from investing primarily in Graphite Capital’s own funds to include a wide range of other private equity funds, both in the UK and internationally, principally in Europe. The transaction is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2016. Wipro Ltd is to acquire Viteos Group, a BPaaS (Business Process as-a-Service) provider for the alternative investment management industry for USD130 million. Wipro specialises in platform-led transformation and utility-based offerings in reconciliation, KYC, settlements, middle-office, asset servicing, syndicated loans and reference data solutions, with coverage across asset classes. Ridgewood Private Equity Partners (RPEP) has made an investment of approximately USD100 million in the Neptune Regional Transmission System (Neptune), a 65-mile submarine power transmission cable connecting New Jersey and Long Island. Neptune has capacity of 660-Megawatt high-voltage direct-current that is fully contracted with the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) under a long-term agreement.
